The Masked Singer: Skeleton is Revealed as Paul Shaffer

Week 4 of the hit show The Masked Singer revealed the identity of the spooky Skeleton. The hip Skeleton was revealed to be none other than Paul Shaffer. The old bag o' bones is famous for creating the SNL characters the Blues Brothers.

It was that time of the week again to take a stab at decoding the clues given on season 2 of The Masked Singer. The show is a top-secret singing competition where celebrities from all walks of life face off against one another while performing in elaborate costumes and masks that conceal their identity. In the past weeks of the competition, some stars have been revealed to fans such as Johnny Weir, Laila Ali, and Dr. Drew Pinsky.  The audience votes for their favorite singer of the night which means the character with the least amount of votes has to be sent home.

Week four had judges Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke participating in the second round of singing between the hidden stars. In the October 16th episode, it featured performances from the Flamingo, the Black Widow, the Leopard, the Skelton, the Butterfly, and Thingamajig. The Skeleton performed a rock-and-roll song that seemed to get the crowd going. Since this was the second round of the singing battle there was no smackdown between the character as they are slowly being picked off one by one. Unfortunately, there always had to be a loser -and this past week it was the Skeleton.

The Skeleton had given some decent clues when it came to figuring out who he may be. Most of the clues had to do with identity and the feeling of being dwarfed. The pair of bones also hinted that he was instrumental in coordinating others around him later in his career. The Skeleton rocked the night away singing "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" but it just was not enough to secure him the win to move on. While some of the judges thought that it could be Martin Short under the costume, McCarthy was the only one who got it correct by guessing Paul Shaffer. The band leader did admit that he was with the comedian last weekend and studied his mannerisms in order to throw the judges off his trail.

Shaffer absolutely loved being apart of season 2 of The Masked Singer as bragged saying "What a great opportunity to be a part of this thing that was absolutely mystifying and blowing me away the first season." The musician joked that he was afraid to forget the words to his songs so he "just had to think of songs that I knew the lyrics to." Shaffer also added that he picked the Skeleton as his costume because it reminded him of Fred Astair. He loved how the 1940's dance was suave and debonair and wanted to try his best to imitate him throughout his performances.

While the rest of the night was pretty uneventful the Butterfly did get the shock of her life when she was electrocuted in the middle of her "Living on a Prayer" performance. The woman underneath said she was fine but did joke that she did not want to be "dead on a prayer." While fans were sad to see the Skeleton go as his humor brought a lightness to the competition, there are still so many more stars to demask in the upcoming episodes.
