One of the scorned former stars of Counting On, Derick Dillard has made it his mission to call out TLC and the Duggar family for many things. He recently went to social media and claimed that his wife, Jill Duggar, isn't allowed to go to the Duggar home without her father, Jim Bob Duggar's permission and that he must be there with the Dillards at all times.
The TLC reality show formerly called Jill & Jessa: Counting On has continued on without some leading cast members. Jill's husband Derick was fired after he continually posted homophobic and transphobic comments on social media and wrote disparaging things about another TLC star, Jazz Jennings. While Jill, formerly a fan favorite on the original 19 Kids and Counting, was never formally fired, Derick tweeted that he was taking his family off the show. The disgraced former TLC star has had plenty of controversy regarding his opinions of his in-laws. He recently opened up to fan who asked why Jim Bob Duggar doesn't pay his children for their participation on the TLC show, in which he told the fan to ask Jim Bob that question.
After posting pictures of his family on Instagram, his wife Jill and their two sons - Samuel Scott Dillard and Israel David Dillard. One of Derick's followers commented on the post, "Does Jill and Derrick go to her parents house. I see so many pics of Duggar family but they aren’t never in the pics." In which Derick responded that they aren't on 19 Kids and Counting anymore. When a fan called him on referring to Counting On as 19 Kids and Counting, he said the show is "just renamed," suggesting that the two shows are the same. He said, "I guess if you want to get technical, it does have a different name now." When fans called out Derick for seemingly shaming his in-laws, he said, "I haven’t trash talked, just answered questions that others should know about us so they’re no longer deceived like we were." That's when he continued to talk finances, bringing up that the Duggar children were never paid for the show, writing, "For a long time, Jill and I were under the impression that the family didn’t make any money from the show, but, rather, it was presented to us kids as something that was done as a ministry that TLC periodically subsidized in the form [of] reimbursements for things like gas, restaurants, travel, etc. … But not any actual pay on top of that." He then dropped a huge bombshell, writing, "It's harder now because [they’re] not allowed at the house when JB [Jim Bob] isn’t there." He revealed, "Jill even had to ask JB [Jim Bob] permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the assistance until we got it cleared with JB [Jim Bob]."
Though Derick didn't give any more information as to why Jill isn't allowed to her family's home without permission from her father, it struck fans as odd. Then as his last comment, Derick revealed that he now knows that a lawsuit is still an option to recoup the withheld pay from the Duggar family and TLC. It seems that the divide between the Dillard family and the Duggar family really comes at the expense of Jill, as she was raised to follow her husband's lead as well as has tremendous respect and love for her family. Fans will have to see how this situation plays out.
Counting On airs Tuesdays at 9pm EST on TLC.
