Harry Potter: 10 Hidden Details From Order Of The Phoenix

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix sees the good side of the magical world begin to stand up for itself and prepare for the war ahead. With the Order itself once again making itself known, and Harry growing Dumbledore's Army, this has become a very popular movie.

As with every Harry Potter film, this one is packed with some fantastic details that bring the words of J.K. Rowling to life in the most magical way possible. Even though the movie continues the darker path of the franchise, it still manages to leave people feeling happy and magical at the end.

Even though this film was released in 2007 and has been shown on television countless times, there are still details that many people have missed. But that's not to worry, as we have you covered and in this list, we will reveal 10 hidden details from Order Of The Phoenix.

10 Magic

We will kick things off with a fun hidden detail that takes place when Mr. Weasley and Harry are heading to the Ministry. They have to go via a muggle entrance, using a classic London phonebox and the main focus of this is the fact it transports them underground to the Ministry.

However, if you pay attention to the numbers he types, it just so happens to be 6-2-4-4-2. What does that spell out on a telephone number pad? Magic. It's a smart little wink to those with a keen eye and is a not-so-subtle password.

9 Evanna Lynch's Casting

Being cast into any movie is never an easy process, and that was certainly the case for Evanna Lynch in this movie. Lynch took on the role of fan favorite, Luna Lovegood, and had to beat 15,000 other girls to land the role, making her audition incredibly impressive.

Lynch did have a previous contact with J.K. Rowling though, under some sad circumstances. Prior to being in the movies, Lynch was simply a fan of the books and when she was battling her eating disorder became pen pals with the author.

8 Branded Cereals

You will notice that throughout the Harry Potter movies you never see any brand promotion, with every item of food being unique to that world. Butterbear and Pumpkin Juice reign supreme here, which is something that even Universal Studios' theme parks had to follow when adding their wizarding worlds.

However, there are subtle nods to more well-known foods that start to pop up, especially in the breakfast department. In Order Of The Phoenix, several kinds of cereal can be seen, such as "Cheeri-Owls," which is a nod to the brand, Cheerios.

7 Rude Joke

Even though some of the later movies in the franchise are well-known for getting a little dark, the Harry Potter franchise is very much a family-friendly one. However, that clearly didn't stop the set designers from sneaking a couple of rude jokes throughout the series.

One of those came in Order Of The Phoenix while Harry is reading a muggle paper. The headline is slightly covered, but it does read, "Balls Judged Too Big," with an image of some tennis balls. Obviously, it's nothing too wild, but depending on the level of maturity, some people might get a good giggle from this.

6 Tonks' Hair

Fans of the Harry Potter books will have noticed that during her appearances in Order Of The Phoenix, Tonks has the wrong colored hair. She is meant to have bright pink hair, yet in the movie her hair is purple, but that wasn't a sloppy mistake.

This was done intentionally. Because Umbridge has so much pink throughout the movie, that color ends up being associated with a villain in this film. Because of that, the decision was made to switch things up so nobody made any associations towards Tonks.

5 Nigel

This is another detail that only fans of the books would be aware of. But the character of Nigel is not actually part of the novels and was totally made up for the sake of the movies. This is a very rare occurrence for the films as they did do an excellent job at staying true to the original story.

Nigel doesn't play a massive role within the movie, so that is likely why J.K. Rowling was happy to allow him to be added, as she was very hands-on throughout the decision process of the films.

4 Kreacher

While Nigel was a character totally made up for the movie, one character that was nearly not added was Kreacher. The Black Family house-elf was part of the original scripts but was then taken out of the movie because he didn't really have a major part.

However, J.K. Rowling demanded that he was placed back into the movie due to his importance down the line. She clearly wanted fans to be familiar with the character before he was used in an important aspect, which was a wise decision.

3 Pregnancy Changes

Another character that plays a huge role in this movie is Bellatrix Lestrange. The mad witch has a major influence in this movie, especially at the end where she causes serious heartbreak for Harry Potter. She is iconically played by Helena Bonham Carter, and it's hard to imagine anybody else doing so.

However, originally it was meant to be Helen McCrory, who is now best known for her role as Polly in Peaky Blinders, who was in the role. However, when she fell pregnant in real life, she had to be replaced, and McCrory was later cast in a smaller role, as Narcissa Malfoy.

2 Ear Injuries

Injuries on sets are commonplace, but that tends to be in movies where lots of stunts are required with fight scenes and weapons such as swords. While there are fight scenes in Harry Potter, the actors are simply waving pieces of wood at each other.

However, that didn't stop Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) from getting injured. Perhaps in fitting tradition with his character, he ended up with a perforated eardrum as he accidentally moved his head while Helena Bonham Carter had her wand in his ear. It left him deaf in the ear for a few days, but thankfully things sorted themselves out.

1 Patronuses

As if Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley couldn't be any more suited to each other, Order Of The Phoenix shows another way they're clearly linked. Their Patronuses. This is something some might miss when Harry teaches his classmates how to use the Patronus spell, as various animals are flying around the room.

However, if you look carefully, you will see that Hermione's Patronus is an otter, whereas Ron's is a Jack Russell Terrier. Oddly enough, this beloved dog is actually well-known for chasing otters around, which is exactly what happens with their Patronuses in the film.
