Mandy Moore has been in the entertainment industry since she was fifteen years old. Her debut pop song, “Candy” put her on the map in 1999, but it’s her acting that has really kept her in the game. Mandy is one of the few entertainers who, very successfully, made the crossover from pop music to acting.
Her competition tried to make the leap, Britney Spears with the film, Crossroads, Christina Aguilera in Burlesque, but none have found nearly the success and praise, from audiences and critics alike, quite like that which Mandy has received.

What will probably go down in Mandy Moore’s history as her most iconic role, is playing Rebecca Pearson, the strong-willed, brave, loving matriarch on NBC’s most popular primetime drama, This Is Us.
This show takes us through different decades in the Pearson family’s lives, and Mandy plays Rebecca in every year, which requires not only an incredible amount of talent but also hours in prosthetic makeup. The hard work Mandy puts into this show has not gone unnoticed, it earned her a Golden Globe nomination in 2017.
9 Tangled (2010) - 7.7
Mandy can check “Become a Disney Princess” off of her career’s to-do list. In 2010, Mandy found her place in Disney history, voicing Princess Rapunzel in the hit animated feature, Tangled.
Mandy seems to be an easy choice for a role like this with her recognizable voice and musical abilities, it was really only a matter of time before Disney got her into a recording booth. Ironically enough, the creator of This Is Us, Dan Fogelman, also wrote Tangled. It seems these two make a pretty great team.
8 A Walk To Remember (2002) - 7.4
The role that made everyone sit up and pay attention to Mandy Moore was her role as Jamie Sullivan in A Walk to Remember. Mandy was seventeen when she filmed this movie with co-star and teen heartthrob, Shane West.
This film was really the first in the Nicholas Sparks’ franchise and its success paved the way for other great love stories like The Notebook and Dear John. Mandy’s portrayal of Jamie, a young girl with cancer trying her best not to fall in love, is one that audiences will always remember.
7 Midway (2019) - 6.7
Mandy really holds her own in this re-telling of a classic World War II drama. Midway is very much what most audiences would consider a “dude movie”. With its action-packed fight scenes from the director, Roland Emmerich, and a predominately male cast, it could be difficult for a woman to stand out in such a male-dominated world.
But Mandy shines that same way she always does and provides an important perspective in the story, playing Ann, the wife of a dive bomber pilot in wartime.
6 Saved (2004) - 6.7
This 2004 dramedy about teen sexuality in a devoted, Christian high school has become somewhat of a cult classic over the years. Mandy goes back to her blonde locks to play Hilary Faye Stockard, the quintessential, devout, conservative Christian teenager with some self-righteous tendencies and a way with her peers that could be categorized as controlling and overbearing.
Mandy does a great job making a not-so-likable character, more likable through her comedic timing and charm.
5 The Princess Diaries (2001) - 6.3
This was really the first movie that gave Mandy Moore a shot as an actress. Released in 2001, and starring Anne Hathaway as Mia, and Julie Andrews as Mia’s grandmother/Queen of Genovia.
Mandy plays Lana, a schoolmate of Mia’s, but definitely not her friend. Lana is a cute, popular girl who seems to get everything she wants by tearing other people down. With her perfect blond locks and sassy attitude, Mandy can really pull off the mean girl archetype, and she does it well.
4 Chasing Liberty (2004) - 6.1
A typical teen rom-com; boy meets girl, the girl is actually the President of the United States’ daughter, boy pretends not to know that boy is actually a secret service agent sent to watch over the President’s daughter. The surprising twist is that the two fall in love and eventually all is revealed causing a break-up.
In typical early 200s rom-com fashion, the boy and the girl realize they’re in love and find a way back to one another. Mandy makes a great romantic lead, even in this not-so-well-received romantic comedy, her charm and screen presence is undeniable.
3 Because I Said So (2007) - 5.7
Mandy Moore leads a stellar cast in Because I Said So, starring alongside Diane Keaton, Lauren Graham, and Piper Perabo. The story focuses on Mandy’s character, the youngest of Daphne’s (Keaton) daughters, who can’t seem to make good choices when it comes to men.
Daphne wants the best for her daughter, so she secretly helps to find her a suitor, and of course, a series of hilarious events unfolds. We even get a pretty great musical number with all of the leading ladies in this film.
2 How To Deal (2003) - 5.6
This film, directed, written, and produced by an all-female team. How To Deal is another teen romantic comedy on Mandy’s resume and lets us see an edgier side to Mandy, who at the time, was most well-known for her blonde locks and pop songs.
There are some great moments in this film that really show off Mandy’s acting chops. It may not have been well-received by audiences, but everyone’s work on the film really shines. It definitely provides further proof that Mandy Moore is a powerhouse actress.
1 License To Wed (2007) - 5.3
One of the most underrated comedies of all time is License to Wed, which Mandy stars in with powerhouse comedians, John Krasinski and Robin Williams.
This film provides a ton of laughs, and really shows off Mandy’s comedic chops and timing. Mandy clearly isn’t afraid to play in the big leagues, holding her own in scenes with Williams and Krasinski, where it seems like it’d be impossible to stay in character and not crack up in the middle of filming.
