Flashpoint: Lauren Cohan Is The Joker To Morgan’s Batman in Fan Art

Fan art imagining the potential Flashpoint storyline in the upcoming The Flash movie features Lauren Cohan as the Joker and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Batman. The DCEU's Flash movie has been in the works for a long time now, with Ezra Miller first stepping into the role for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeThe Flash was expected to arrive in theaters years ago and has even cycled through several directors. As of right now, It: Chapter 2's director Andy Muschietti is currently attached to the project, which holds a June 2022 release date. Miller will return to play Barry Allen/the Flash for the first time since Justice League in 2017.

For the most part, specific plot details are being kept under wraps. However, it's been said that The Flash will adapt the famous Flashpoint storyline from the comics, which saw Barry run back in time to prevent his mother from being murdered. However, this had some major ripple effects, the biggest of which being young Bruce Wayne getting killed instead of his parents. As a result, Thomas Wayne became the Batman while Martha went on to become the Joker. With the arrival of a Flashpoint adaptation, fans have wondered if Cohan and Morgan will return to the roles they briefly played in Batman v Superman. However, The Flash reportedly won't include the Thomas Wayne version of Batman.

Still, it's fun to imagine what Morgan and Cohan would look like as Flashpoint's Batman and Joker, and that's exactly what artist SPDRMNKYXXIII did with this latest piece. Cohan, who is best known for playing Maggie on The Walking Deadlooks positively unsettling as the Joker, while Morgan (who also has a substantial role in The Walking Dead as Negan) is an appropriately brooding Dark Knight. You can see it for yourself in the space below.

The Flash may not include Thomas Wayne's Batman, but it's definitely aiming to include Batman. News broke last week that Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his Batman for The Flash movie. While this isn't official just yet, the theory here is that when Barry causes Flashpoint, he somehow creates an alternate universe where Keaton's Batman has been residing. Should this work out, Keaton could appear in other DC movies like Batgirl.

Like any comic book movie, The Flash isn't expected to be a direct adaptation of the comic book storyline it is inspired by. While some might be disappointed that Morgan isn't expected to return for The Flash, the potential promise of Keaton might be enough to soften the blow. There's a chance Morgan and Cohan would've been included in the Flashpoint storyline had The Flash been made closer to the release of Batman v Superman, but it's hard to say what could have happened. Regardless, there's some real excitement for The Flashso hopefully it doesn't suffer any further delays.
