Cece was a character who became quite beloved as N w Girl progressed. She was not necessarily as popular as the loft roommates at first, but this would soon change as fans got to know more about her. In fact, it would become apparent that Cece was not only very strong, but a very compassionate and wonderful person for her friends. As a result of this, it was hard not to applaud her, as she deserved it every step of the way.
Cece was also somebody who would go through a massive number of hard events. The severity of them would vary, sure, but the amount of heartbreak she went through cannot be ignored. She essentially had to grow up at a young age because of how her childhood went, and it did not get much easier as an adult. Yet, even with all of this being so, she remained resilient and would blossom when it came to her character development because of it.
10 Her Father Died Of Cancer
Cece's father died when she was twelve. Although this happened when she was a kid, it was apparent that it had a long-term impact, as it is hard for anybody to lose a parent.
She opens up to Schmidt about it at the beach during Nick's cancer scare episode, which showed that their connection had been deepening. This was easily one of the hardest things that she would face as a character, even though fans did not see it happen.
9 Strained Relationship With Mother
Her father's death was also even more significant due to the fact that she had a strained relationship with her mother. Her mother was extremely hard to please, which did not mesh well with the fact that Cece valued her acceptance more than anything else.
Their relationship would sour even more throughout the series, as her mother was unhappy with the decisions that she was making. The pair even got to a point where they were not even speaking, so it was clear that this relationship was truly damaged.
8 Dropped Out Of High School
Cece dropping out of high school would end up hurting her immensely - even though there isn't anything inherently wrong with the decision to choose a different path. The issue was that her decision to drop out and become a model made her become self-conscious about her intelligence as she matured.
Cece was not dumb by any means either. In fact, she possessed a lot of qualities that she showed that she was actually very smart. Yet, she continually felt self-conscious about not finishing, making this hard for her.
7 Jess Judged Her Modeling Career
Jess did not help when it came to Cece's confidence in her career, as the former was quite judgmental at times. Honestly, this was quite disappointing to see, as Jess was normally accepting and understanding about what the others were up to.
The two ended up getting into a pretty huge fight over this, too. This was a rare instance where Jess was not being a good friend at all and Cece had done nothing wrong.
6 Rushed Engagement With Shivrang
In an attempt to strengthen her relationship with her mother, Cece let her mom set her up with an Indian man. Her mother put a lot of pressure on marriage, and made it clear that she expected Cece to marry, and marry a man she approved of.
This resulted in Cece rushing an engagement to Shivrang, even though her feelings for him were not really there. It made a lot of sense when the two mutually decided to stop their wedding, as they both had true feelings for other people.
5 Got Cheated On By Schmidt
When Cece finally felt happy and officially dated Schmidt, things quickly took a turn for the worst. This was due to the fact that Schmidt ended up dating both her and Elizabeth at the same time.
Schmidt eventually owned up to it and it crushed Cece immensely. At this point in time, it was clear that Cece was in love with Schmidt, so him doing that was truly shattering. It even kept her away from the loft for a while.
4 She Had To Accept Schmidt And Fawn
As time went on, Cece learned to forgive Schmidt and even had lingering feelings for him. When her love for him deepened again, it was very hard for her, as Schmidt seemed to have moved on with his relationship with Fawn.
It also did not help that Fawn was clearly using Schmidt and did not have any true feelings for him. However, even with all of this being the case, Cece remained supportive of Schmidt through this endeavor. Meanwhile, she was heartbroken.
3 Struggled To Find A New Career After Leaving Modeling
As the series progressed, Cece decided that she felt unfulfilled as a model, so she looked towards a new path. However, it was very hard for her to find something that she felt passionate about. She tried to work at the bar, but didn't like it.
Although it was awesome to see her look to improve upon her professional career, there was no denying that the road to her future was difficult. Thankfully though, she ended up developing a career as a manager for male models.
2 She And Winston Picked A Horrid Wedding Dress
Picking a wedding dress is a massive deal for a bride. While in the process of picking her own, she and Winston ended up drinking a lot of wine, which would end up altering their judgment significantly.
As a result of their actions, the two would agree to purchase one of the ugliest dresses possible. Once they had sobered up, they realized the severity of their mistake. Jess discovered later on that the dress looked stunning when inside out though. However, the road to realizing that was extremely stressful for Cece.
1 Her Mother Didn't Approve Of Schmidt
Schmidt put in a ton of effort to get approved by Cece's mom. He had a lot going against him, as he was not Indian. Even after performing a Bollywood dance at their wedding shower for her to try and show her that he would respect and embrace Cece's family culture, Cece's mom rejected Schmidt and told Cece she would not participate in the wedding.
Cece was crushed by this, as any person in her position would be. Given the fact that her mother's approval was a massive deal to her, seeing her reject Schmidt was very difficult. At the wedding though, Cece's mom took a big turn and accepted Schmidt because of his plethora of phone calls begging her to come.
