On Big Brother Canada 9, the public was asked to vote for two team captains who had the power to choose the contestants that they wish to compete with under Team Defender or Team Destiny. No one expected that BBCAN9 would feature an abrupt twist that forced the contestants to play the game in two separate teams. Big Brother is nearly always an individual game where alliances are chosen, not enforced by formal structures. And yet, here we are, with a season that now feels just like Survivor.
It was quite shocking when Global TV announced that contestant Ethan Quance was disqualified from BBCAN9 due to serious allegations against him, but the show still managed to assemble a cast that is filled with charismatic and game-ready players. Before this season began, the public was asked to vote for two houseguests that they'd like to see as team captains. In the end, Kiefer Collison and Tina Thistle were assigned those roles. Kiefer was tasked to lead Team Defender, whereas Tina must be the captain of Team Destiny.
During the highly-anticipated Big Brother Canada 9 premiere, Kiefer and Tina were able to enter the house before everyone else and hide out in the play room to watch each houseguest coming in. During their interactions in the playroom, Kiefer "jokingly" suggested to Tina that they should split the teams between guys and girls, but Tina shut down the idea right away. After they all made their way inside, Kiefer and Tina came out to the living room and made their picks. Kiefer selected Rohan Kapoor, Breydon White, Julie Vu, Josh Farnworth, Breydon White, Latoya Anderson, and Jedson Tavernier for Team Defender.
There's no denying that Team Defender is a very strong team that could win a few competitions on Big Brother Canada season 9. And yet, that's not exactly what happened at the competition held at the premiere. Rohan was the last man standing on the team, but he wasn't able to hold onto his bucket of slime. Team Destiny took the win, which means that all of its teammates have immunity for the week. Given that Kiefer also has a captain immunity, the first evictee will come from this group of six Team Destiny players.
It is still too early to tell how the game on Big Brother Canada 9 will play out. Alas, the fans are dying to find out if Team Defenders or Team Destiny will succeed in the end!
