However, Alec also has a history of playing football on a professional level. As reported by ESPN, Alec played as a wide receiver for Virginia Military Institute. According to the official VMI Keydets website, he was active playing football in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The page also describes Alec as measuring 6'3", weighing 200 lbs, and being "one of the most experienced receivers" in the VMI Keydets team at the time. Alec attended Virginia Military Institute between 2010 and 2014 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The fans met Alec on the premiere of Michelle's season of The Bachelorette and he made it through the first round. Despite not having a huge spotlight on him during this first episode, Alec still got a rose from Michelle at the end of the night. However, NFL star Bryan Witzmann didn't have the same luck as his fellow football peer and was sent home once the episode came to a close.
