Learn which cars are best to use first in Hot Wheels Unleashed. Hot Wheels Unleashed features more than 60 different vehicles for players to choose from in their races, and with so many different combinations of stat attributes, it can be difficult to decide which car is best to use first. The best cars can be created through upgrades or unlocked in Blind Boxes, but before that can happen players will need to win a few races to unlock more Gears and Coins.
Coins are used to buy Blind Boxes, and Blind Boxes can reward any level of rarity car. Naturally, players are more likely to receive a Common car over a Legendary one, but the good news is that Common cars can be upgraded easily. Their first level of upgrades costs 200 Gears, which can easily be earned in the single-player campaign City Rumble.
Hot Wheels Unleased gifts a few Blind Boxes to players immediately, and these are full of Common classic Hot Wheels cars. Their stats are split up into Speed, Braking Power, Acceleration, Handling, and Boost level. By far the best stats to look out for are Acceleration and Handling. Bumping into other cars and walls will slow cars down, and there are plenty of sharp turns on each track that need to be drifted around. Acceleration will help players reach and recover to top speed, while Handling makes it easier to take sharp turns.
The next stats to look at are Speed and Boost. Early on, the best cars in Hot Wheels Unleashed have an inverted relationship between these two stats, meaning a car either needs a lot of Boost or a high-Speed stat. Slower cars benefit from drifting around turns to constantly build up Boost, compensating for their lack of Speed stat. Likewise, cars with a high Speed stat will be able to build up their low Boost by drifting around corners, and they benefit from using the Boost immediately coming off of the turn to reach top speed once more.
If any player is lucky enough to receive a Legendary car, like the Batmobile, from one of their first Blind Boxes in Hot Wheels Unleashed then they should use that car. Legendary cars have high stats and can't be upgraded further, meaning Coins and Gears can be saved for other cars unlocked later on. Car rarity is located above the Speed stat, and it's also marked by a gold bar on the right side of the car in the Shop screen.
Hot Wheels Unleashed is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
