The Batman trailer shared during DC FanDome has been re-released in 4K. Fans were treated to the new footage of Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader yesterday, with glimpses at Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as Penguin, and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. The Batman will make its theatrical debut on March 4, 2022.
Director Matt Reeves has previously unveiled a 4K addition to the first The Batman trailer, which was released during the inaugural DC FanDome last year. Now, with principal photography concluded earlier in 2021, this latest trailer provides a much clearer picture of what to expect from the upcoming film. Featuring more gruff dialogue from Pattinson's Batman, interactions with Kravitz's Catwoman, hints at Dano's nefarious plan as The Riddler, and intense chase scenes with Farrell's Penguin, it's clear that Reeves had much more to work with in the most recent trailer.
Now, once again, the latest trailer for The Batman has been re-released through IGN in 4K. While including no additional footage, the trailer provides a crisper look at the iconic DC characters and a gloomy Gotham City. It also offers the chance to see Pattinson serve some truly classic Batman beat downs in high definition. Check out the video below:
The 4K addition of the trailer really allows Reeves to show off what he has accomplished so far with the film without giving anything more away. As he no doubt intended, the crystal clear look at the footage makes every aspect of The Batman shine. From the closer look at the costumes of Pattinson and Kravitz to the intricate design of the Batmobile and the transformation of Farrell's face into the Penguin, the detail exhibited in this upgraded trailer is palpable.
Though doubtlessly this new, cleaner look at The Batman, as well as the additional tidbits shared during DC FanDome, have fed fans' appetites in the run-up to March 4, expectations for the film have likely never been higher. This latest showcase seems to demonstrate Reeves' ambition for the film to provide a new perspective on the Dark Knight, focusing on a younger and more inexperienced iteration of the hero and his would-be villains. A standalone installment, the narrative possibilities for The Batman seem mostly limitless and will only fuel fan anticipation. Regardless of how it is ultimately received, this latest trailer at least promises that Reeves and Pattinson will deliver a fresh take on the iconic DC hero.
