Here's every movie scheduled to be released in 2022. Studios are well-accustomed to claiming release dates for their biggest films years in advance by now, long before they have an official title, cast, and/or crew. But, with the coronavirus pandemic throwing a massive wrench in the gears of the industry, power players like Disney and Warner Bros. have been forced to scrap their carefully-laid plans for 2021 in order to make room for all the movies delayed from 2020. And, with productions previously shut down for months during the ongoing pandemic, a lot of the films previously slated for 2021 are going to have to move back to at least a year (some into 2023).
Several movies were postponed from 2021 to 2022 due to COVID-19. For example, Disney and Marvel Studios changed the entire Phase 4 slate multiple times after Black Widow was delayed from its original release date in May 2020. This created a ripple effect that affected nearly every upcoming Marvel Studios production, including some of the Disney+ shows. Similarly, a certain Keanu Reeves-led sequel abandoned 2021 altogether after the shutdown in production on The Matrix 4 made it impossible for the star to move swiftly from one project to the next as planned.
Thanks to the various delays to 2021 titles and the movies previously set to arrive in 2022, Hollywood's release calendar is jam-packed with 2022 titles. While more changes could come at any second, now's as good a time as any to examine what the 2022 Movie Release Date Calendar looks like so far. For the purposes of this run-down, we will focus on the schedule that either have an official title already or we actually know something concrete about (that is, something firmer than "Untitled Disney Live-Action Movie", for example).
