Josh Gad Reacts to Disneyland’s Upcoming Frozen Land Theme Park

Josh Gad didn't hide his surprise when he found out that Disneyland is planning to build several expansions based on FrozenGad famously voiced Olaf the Snowman in the hit 2013 animated film. He received recognition for his bubbly and endearing performance and even reprised the role in the film's 2019 sequel and two spin-offs: Frozen Fever (2015) and Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017). Gad currently has his own miniseries as the adorable snowman in Disney+'s Olaf Presents.

Inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Snow Queen," Frozen follows the tale of two sisters, Princess Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and Princess Anna of Arendelle (Kristen Bell), who were estranged after the former accidentally used her icy magic to trap their kingdom in an eternal winter. The film was not only a huge blockbuster success for Disney but also launched countless profitable merchandise based on its characters. Since 2016, Disney Parks announced that it was developing at least three Frozen-themed lands to be called "Arendelle: World of Frozen."

Gad had a mind-blown moment when he recently learned about the Frozen lands that are currently underway. The 40-year-old actor shared his reaction on Twitter, where he didn't hide his obvious surprise that Olaf will be getting his own attraction. At first, Gad thought that only Hong Kong Disneyland would be getting a Frozen addition but fans were quick to point out that construction for Arendelle: World of Frozen is also ongoing in Tokyo and Paris. According to Disney Parks, the upcoming Frozen attraction will be set after the events of the original 2013 movie, with Queen Elsa dedicating a "Summer Snow Day" to the whole kingdom of Arendelle upon unfreezing it. Plans for the multi-billion expansion in Disneyland Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Paris include rides, restaurants, and live entertainment experiences that will feature the film's beloved characters. It is projected to open between 2022 and 2023.

Fans would definitely love to see Anna, Elsa, and Olaf come to life in the world's happiest place. As for Gad not getting first dibs about the upcoming Frozen land, it is likely too early for Disney to be assembling actors who will be part of its attractions. And because the expansions will be in Disneyland's international theme parks, the voicing for Olaf will probably be dubbed by actors who can speak in the countries' native languages. That said, Gad's excitement is an indication that he will be more than happy to do more work as Olaf and perhaps make a live appearance when these new Frozen theme parks finally open.
