Keeping Up With The Kardashian alum Kourtney Kardashian's ex Scott Disick wants her to be happy even though her romantic future won't be with him. Kourtney and Scott have a long history and have been through the wringer in their relationship. Since they started dating in 2006, Scott and Kourtney have broken up and gotten back together before welcoming three children, Mason, 11, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 6. The former lovebirds never married but ultimately decided to go their separate ways in 2015. Since their split, they have been involved in several relationships, with Scott notably dating Sofia Richie on-and-off from 2017 to 2020. However, despite finding love elsewhere, Scott and Kourtney have maintained a successful and commendable co-parenting relationship.
After Scott's relationship with Sofia ended, he got closer than he had ever been with Kourtney since their split. The former couple got honest about where they stood in their relationship while reflecting on their ups and downs during the KUWTK reunion special in June 2021. Kourtney said she found about Scott's infidelity at the end of their relationship, but his substance abuse was the dealbreaker for her. Meanwhile, Scott said he and Kourtney are family and will always be. However, any hope that Scott and Kourtney would get back together was dashed following her relationship with Travis Barker. Kourtney and Travis are going strong in their relationship and got engaged last month. Scott doubted someone like Travis could sweep Kourtney off her feet. However, now that it has happened, he is doing his best to handle the situation well enough.
A source told HollywoodLife that Scott is handling Kourtney and Travis's engagement as best as he knows how. The insider added, "As much as Scott knows that Kourtney will always be in his life, it's not the same as it was last year. After Scott and Sofia [Richie] broke up, he was closer than he's been with Kourtney in a long time and a big part of him thought a reconciliation was a possibility." The source also said Scott knew he still had much to prove to Kourtney if they were ever going to get back together but was willing to do whatever was needed to do so. The father of three never dreamed someone like Travis could come in between him and Kourtney but knows he has to accept it. The source continued, "At the end of the day, Scott may not be thrilled with how things turned out for him, but he really does care about Kourtney and he does want her to be happy despite everything that went down before."
However, despite knowing his chances of rekindling his romance with Kourtney are all but over, Scott still wants to continue being close to her family as he shares three kids with her. A second source revealed still being a part of the Kardashians is important to Scott. The insider said, "Slowly but surely, he is attempting to accept that Travis and Kourt are the future. He just has to live and deal with it and get to a place where the rest of the family supports him, and he supports them, to make it look like he isn't the jerk in the situation." Recently, Scott came face to face with Kourtney and Travis when they all attended a mutual friend's wedding. There were reports that Scott avoided his ex and her fiancé at the wedding, but the source revealed he was polite to them when they met each other. According to the insider, Scott was neither rude nor standoffish when he encountered Travis and Kourtney and did not want to make a scene at the wedding.
It is not always easy for one to get over someone they had a long-term romantic relationship with. If kids are involved, it even gets harder to let go and move on. Hence, it was not surprising that Scott struggled after his split from Kourtney. Despite dating multiple women, it was always evident that he still loved Kourtney. However, now that she is moving on with her life and set to tie the knot with the man she now loves, it is good to see that Scott is now coming to terms with the present situation. He displayed a tremendous amount of maturity with the way he conducted himself when he met Kourtney and Travis at the wedding. It may not be an easy thing to do, but Scott also needs to move on and find himself a good partner who complements him instead of dating multiple women. Most Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans have always liked Scott and will find the news that he wants to remain part of the family soothing. There is no doubt that the Kardashians like his presence and will support him in whatever he decides to do moving forward. Hopefully, his next steps will lead to true happiness.
