South Park: Post Covid - Who Victor Chaos Really Is | Screen Rant

The first part of the South Park: Post Covid special was recently released on Paramount+, ending with a cliffhanger involving a mysterious unseen character named Victor Chaos. Post Covid jumps forward in the future 40 years, the amount of time South Park imagines it will take for the pandemic to end, and ages the children who have remained nine for the last 25 years. In a premise reminiscent of It Chapter 2, the grown boys of South Park reunite in their childhood hometown after receiving news about the death of their friend, Kenny McCormick.

As Stan, Kyle, and Cartman return to South Park, a great deal about the town has changed, most notably the names of the town’s businesses and institutions. South Park has spent the last quarter of a century poking fun at everyone and anything, and this even includes their new streaming service home following the deal with ViacomCBS. In a meta-reference to the trend of new streaming services, all of the names of businesses in South Park have either ‘Plus’ or ‘Max’ tagged onto them in the future. Even the institution containing the enigmatic Victor Chaos has been named South Park Mental Asylum Plus. These changes have added relevance as Post Covid is the first South Park content to be streamed on Paramount+, while all previous Covid-related specials were created for HBO Max.

Kenny has famously been killed countless times in the franchise, but Post Covid is a rare instance where his demise is taken somewhat seriously. Having become a successful scientist, Kenny was using time travel to investigate the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, only to become infected by a variant known as the COVID Delta+ Rewards. As Kenny’s childhood friends investigate the results of Kenny’s research, they discover his lab partner Victor Chaos may have the answers they need to survive a new variant created after one of the residents of South Park refuses to get vaccinated.

For most of Post Covid, the character’s name is pronounced “Victor Chaws,” though a glimpse at his cell door in the final moments of the hour-long special reveals that his name is actually Victor Chaos. If the absence of Butters from the South Park special isn’t evidence enough, his supervillain alter-ego of Professor Chaos sharing a namesake with the unseen imprisoned character seems to reveal the truth. If there were any doubts about the identity of Victor Chaos, his prisoner number confirms that it is Butters.

As a doctor brings dinner to the cell of Victor Chaos in the last scene of Post Covid, his prisoner number can be seen on a placard beside the door. The number assigned to Chaos is 41002-66, with the first part referring to 04/10/2002, the date Butters’ alter ego was introduced on the show in an episode titled “Professor Chaos.” The remaining number of 66 is a reference to that episode’s placement as the sixth episode of South Park’s sixth season.

What significance Victor Chaos will have in the second part of the South Park: Post Covid special remains to be seen. Although a release date has yet to be announced by Paramount, the initial plan was for both specials to be released before the end of the year. Given that Part 1 was released on November 25th, some anticipate a Christmas Day release for Part 2.
