New images for Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum's upcoming romcom The Lost City reveal Brad Pitt's much-hyped cameo. Previously titled The Lost City of D, the Romancing the Stone-esque movie is set to debut in theaters in March 2022. It stars Bullock as Loretta Sage, a brilliant romance author, and Tatum as Alan, the hunky cover model of all her books. When the two are kidnapped by a greedy billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe), they're plunged into an epic adventure across the jungle as they fight to survive and find some lost treasure. The Lost City is directed by Adam and Aaron Nee and also stars Patti Harrison, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Bowen Yang, and Oscar Nunez.
It also features a pretty major cameo courtesy of Pitt. As seen with the Ryan Reynolds-starring Free Guy earlier this year, big celebrity cameos aren't typically revealed ahead of time. However, Pitt was announced to be in The Lost City earlier this year. His role in the romcom came about because of Bullock's own role in Pitt's Bullet Train; the actress reached out to Pitt when the opportunity arose, and he happily agreed as a sort of quid pro quo.
Now Pitt's role in The Lost City has been revealed in new images shared online by EW. In one picture, Pitt can be seen running behind Bullock (who is, curiously, in a wheelbarrow) and Tatum while an explosion roars behind them. Additional Lost City pictures show the central pair in the jungle together and Radcliffe's villain leading the charge into the darkness. Check them out below.
The Lost City is an interesting movie for many reasons. Even beyond Pitt's amusing-looking cameo, the comedy serves as a throwback to the kind of romantic adventure movies that aren't made as often today. Thanks to Netflix, the romance genre is far from dead, but studios are more hesitant to put out movies like this one. Additionally, Tatum and Bullock are two major stars who have taken on fewer projects in recent years; the idea of them teaming up for a swoon-worthy big screen adventure is very appealing.
Based on these Lost City images, it looks like the movie will be fun, action-packed, and, naturally, romantic. Pitt's cameo could provide some extra levity to the already-hilarious premise, and the opportunity to see Radcliffe as a villain is never one that should be turned up. Radcliffe previously played a bad guy in Now You See Me 2, but The Lost City can give him the chance to further dig into the dark side. Hopefully, Paramount will see fit to release a trailer soon so audiences can get a better sense of what lies ahead for this romantic ride.
