The Captain Marvel trailer can evidently be chalked up as a success for Marvel Studios since it's the second most-liked MCU trailer on YouTube, beaten only by Avengers: Infinity War. What's more, it's officially the only solo MCU movie trailer to break 1 million likes.
The first trailer for Captain Marvel finally dropped just 10 days ago, and it lit the Internet ablaze with excitement. It gave viewers their first look at Brie Larson's titular hero in her trademark scarlet costume, featured the return of Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson, and confirmed some major theories. It also kicked off a rather strange debate about whether or not Carol Danvers should smile more, with Larson herself weighing in by mocking the idea.

Over on Twitter, the self-confessed CapMarvelFan has noted that the film has passed a milestone. The Captain Marvel trailer has broken 1 million views on YouTube, only the second MCU trailer to achieve this. That's a palpable indication of just how much excitement there really is for Captain Marvel, as it means it's generating more positive responses than even the much-acclaimed trailers for Thor: Ragnarok or Captain America: Civil War.
Marvel is arriving late to the party with their first female-led solo superhero film. Last year's Wonder Woman broke the glass ceiling for the genre, proving that female superheroes can perform tremendously well in terms of the global box office. But Captain Marvel is demonstrably important to the future of the entire MCU. The film is setup for Avengers 4, with Carol Danvers summoned to Earth to help avert or undo Thanos's horrific act of cosmic genocide. With stalwarts like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. expected to bow out next year, it's believed Captain Marvel will become one of the MCU's main characters over the next few years. According to Kevin Feige, she'll be joined by a lot more female superheroes, too.
Curiously, in addition to having 1 million likes, the Captain Marvel trailer has also generated 70,000 dislike reactions. That's certainly unusual; the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, for example, only has 29,000 dislikes. It's possible the negative reactions relate to the fact that Captain Marvel is quite obviously politically conscious, with the character herself known for her feminist leanings. In the comics, Carol Danvers originally took up the identity of Ms. Marvel, with the decision to use the word "Ms." a political statement, as that particular honorific was quite controversial back in the 1970s.
