Meet The Aces Pilots In New Star Wars Resistance Video

A new video for Star Wars Resistance introduces The Aces, a group of five hotshot pilots who protect the refueling depot Colossus. The new animated series takes place six months before the events of The Force Awakens and will explore the early days of the Resistance. It will also feature the leadership of General Leia Organa (voiced by Rachel Butera) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac, who will return to voice the character in his animated form) alongside the experiences of new characters eager to prove themselves in the battles to come.

Resistance follows a young pilot named Kazuda Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean) who is tasked by Poe to spy on the First Order. As part of his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, a refueling depot used by many ships - giving him the perfect opportunity to meet plenty of new people and test his piloting skills. Because when the pilots aren't protecting the base, they're showing off their skills racing.

USA Today released a video introducing The Aces, the pilots who protect the base. They each have their own tricked out ships and of course a trusty droid. The video also includes Resistance creator Dave Filoni, executive producer Justin Ridge, and art director Amy Beth Christenson as well as interviews with the voice actors. Check out the video below:

The Aces pilots include Torra Doza (voiced by Myrna Velasco), the youngest pilot whose bubbly exterorior makes people underestimate her when she gets behind the controls. Torra is just looking for friends who won't be scared off by her captain father. There's also Hype Fazon, a cocky Rodian voiced by Scrubs actor Donald Faison. Filoni says Hype is one the first times he's created the character around the person, using Faison's larger than life personality to create the best pilot on the platform. Griff Halloran (voiced by Stephen Stanton) is a rough around the edges ex-Imperial TIE Fighter pilot who the actor describes as "still looking for that one last, great battle." And Freya Fenris (voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) is the icy and cold pilot who just wants to get her job done. Rounding out the group is Bo Keevil. He's mysterious - and known for crashing his four winged ship.

Like The Clone Wars and Rebels before it, Resistance looks to deepen the Star Wars Universe while being fun for the whole family. The show won't just be fun racing hijinks, it will also depict the growing power of the First Order including the return of Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma and a new villain, Major Vonreg (Lex Lang), who is an ace TIE pilot in his own right. Resistance looks to have something for Star Wars fans of every age with its diverse cast of voice actors, bright animation style, and new and familiar faces.
