After being out for almost two weeks, Marvel's Spider-Man is setting records by becoming PlayStation's fastest-selling game ever. This newest Spider-Man title is by no means the first Spidey video game, but it's the only one that has been released exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
Spider-Man and Peter Parker were created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, first appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15. The famous web-slinger then made his first video game appearance twenty years later in 1982, with a game simply called Spider-Man. The game was not only the first ever Spider-Man game, but the first video game to feature a Marvel character. While that game was released on the Atari 2600, there have been several other Spider-Man video games on other consoles since, like Gameboy, Wii, Xbox, and PlayStation. Spider-Man games over the years have had varied success rates, but critics have given Spider-Man PS4 good reviews, praising both the story and graphics of Insomniac Games' newest title. Now, Spider-Man has reached another milestone.

According to PlayStation's official Twitter account, Spider-Man has quickly become PlayStation's fastest-selling game ever. As revealed in the Tweet, Insomniac's new game sold 3.3 million copies in the first three days of its release. As mentioned above, the video game has only been out a few weeks, which means there are still opportunities for Marvel's Spider-Man to smash even more records.
While series like Uncharted and God of War have previously been heavy hitters for PlayStation, Spider-Man allows gamers to live out their dreams of swinging through New York as the famous Marvel hero. With an open-world set up, Spider-Man will keep gamers busy for hours on end, giving them different missions to complete. Not only can gamers complete the regular missions in the game, but they can also find a number of Spider-Man related easter eggs, play around with the game's extensive photo mode, and even unlock multiple different Spidey suits.
The game has a lot for players to accomplish, and with the success of this title, fans can expect Insomniac Games to create another Spider-Man installment. Also, given Spider-Man's post-credit scene, it seems as if developers are already thinking ahead about a possible sequel. It's also worth mentioning that the Creative Director at Insomniac Games has already teased that the next game will revolve around Spider-Man's black Symbiote suit. While thinking about future Spider-Man games is no doubt exciting, fans will just have to keep playing the Spider-Man game that recently hit store shelves for a while longer.
