Arrowverse Crossover Set Photos Reveal Stephen Amell In Full Flash Costume

New set photos reveal Stephen Amell in full costume as The Flash for the 2018 Arrowverse "Elseworlds" crossover. Amell, who plays the Green Arrow, and Grant Gustin, who plays The Flash, turned heads when the two swapped costumes in a new poster for the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event.

The three-night crossover, which will encompass Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, will send the heroes of the Arrowverse to Gotham City for the first time to meet Ruby Rose as Batwoman. The event will see the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, who hasn't appeared since season 2 of Supergirl, along with the Arrowverse debut of Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane, LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor, Jeremy Davies as villain Dr. John Deegan, and Cassandra Jean Amell as the wife of Mr. Freeze.

Two new set photos provide fans with a full view of Amell in The Flash costume. One of the two photos shows Amell filming a scene with Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and Hoechlin. Interestingly, Hoechlin is wearing his traditional red and blue costume from Supergirl, which means that he too will be wearing more than one costume for the crossover. An earlier photo revealed that Hoechlin's Superman will be dressed in the black and silver costume from the comics.

As for Green Arrow and The Flash, there haven't been official details on why they'll be swapping suits, but the prevailing theory is connected to the main idea behind "Elseworlds." The name of the crossover suggests that the event will incorporate multiple timelines and realities, which means that viewers will get to meet alternate versions of the Arrowverse heroes.

Some may infer from their outfits that Amell is playing an Oliver Queen who becomes The Flash, but that doesn't seem to be the case. After the poster was unveiled, Amell tweeted, "My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive." This indicates that Amell and Gustin's characters will be exchanging costumes and identities.

The two actors will also be playing two entirely separate characters, the Trigger Twins, who were villains in the comic books. There's no telling what other characters will have their roles swapped in "Elseworlds," or how many universes the crossover will be able to visit in just three episodes.
