Little Drummer Girl Sneak Peek Offers A Closer Look At AMC’s Upcoming Thriller

AMC’s The Little Drummer Girl is shaping up to be the television event of the fall, and a new sneak peek takes viewers behind the scenes of the political thriller. A collaboration between AMC and BBC, the latest adaptation of a novel by spymaster John le Carré builds on the success of the 2015 miniseries The Night Manager. While that series may be getting a sequel sometime soon, le Carré fans can settle in with this gorgeous looking and star-studded effort for a three-night event in late November.

Set against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the 1970s, The Little Drummer Girl brings Michael Shannon, Alexander Skarsgård, and Florence Pugh to the screen for a six-episode miniseries directed by Park Chan-wook. That alone should be enough to whet most viewers’ appetites, but in case it wasn’t AMC has released a stunning trailer that not only showcases the series’ stylish aesthetic, but also builds plenty of intrigue, as Skarsgård’s Becker pull’s Pugh’s Charlie into a web of international intrigue.

But as is often the case when major TV events near their premiere date, AMC has released a sneak peek/behind-the-scenes video that not only offers a better look at what’s to come, but also describes in greater detail the circumstances of the story and what audiences can expect come November. Check out the video below:

The examination of the role Charlie has to play in not only the series itself, but also the fiction that Becker and Shannon’s Kurtz are crafting in order to complete the mission they’ve been tasked with makes the series even more intriguing. Pugh, Skarsgård, and several of the show’s producers make it clear she’s not some ingenue who’s in over her head. Instead, The Little Drummer Girl paints Charlie as a capable actor who is eager to take on this challenging and dangerous role.

That a romance blossoms between Charlie and Becker is no surprise, but it doesn’t seem as though it will be trite, either. The sneak peek offers an enticing glimpse at the trajectory of their relationship, and, interestingly enough, it appears as though the series puts Charlie in the driver’s seat for the most part. Despite this extended behind-the-scenes look at the series, it’s likely there’s plenty surprises on the way in The Little Drummer Girl, so it will be one to set your DVR for this November.
