Marvel Studios' Avengers 4 hits theaters in May 2019 and wraps up Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; here's when the first trailer for Avengers 4 may release. The MCU launched back in 2008 with Iron Man and the franchise celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018 with Avengers: Infinity War. However, Infinity War was originally the first half of a two-part story. That story will conclude with 2019's Avengers 4, a movie so secretive Marvel hasn't officially announced the title yet. Though very little is known about the fourth Avengers movie, we do know it will pick up after the cliffhanger ending of Infinity War that saw Thanos wipe out half of life in the universe using the Infinity Gauntlet.
Since Avengers 4 is expected to conclude the story of the MCU so far, it's perhaps the most highly anticipated Marvel Studios release of 2019 - though, of course, fans are looking forward to both Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home as well. Still, there's been little-to-no official marketing released for Avengers 4 and fans are no doubt wondering when Marvel Studios will kick off promotional efforts for what is arguably their biggest film ever. Recent unfounded reports supposedly leaked the Avengers 4 trailer description and revealed it the movie's trailer was being converted to IMAX (though the latter is definitely not true - yet). Now, we break down when fans can expect Marvel Studios to debut the very first Avengers 4 trailer.

In predicting the releases of trailers for Captain Marvel, Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home, we speculate the next Avengers installment will get its first trailer around the end of November. The reason for this is that the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer debuted at the end of November 2017, ahead of the movie's original early May release date. Since Avengers 4 releases in early May 2019, it makes sense that Marvel Studios would roll out the first trailer in November as this would follow the same marketing timetable.
What may throw off the marketing of Avengers 4 is that it releases much sooner after Captain Marvel than Infinity War did after Black Panther. Black Panther debuted in February, compared to Captain Marvel's March 2019 release. As such, it's possible Avengers 4 pushes back its marketing efforts, not releasing the initial trailer until December, with a full trailer arriving after Captain Marvel's release. After all, the full Avengers: Infinity War trailer didn't debut until a month after Black Panther hit theaters. No matter what, though, the first Avengers 4 trailer will most likely arrive before the end of 2018.
In terms of what the first Avengers 4 trailer will entail, it's likely to focus on reminding viewers about the ending of Infinity War and where Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be at the start of the upcoming movie. There was a great deal of secrecy surrounding Infinity War, and it's likely there will be even more for Avengers 4. That may mean the Avengers 4 trailer uses scenes made only for the marketing - like the group running shot created for the Infinity War trailers that wasn't used in the final movie - or reuses footage from Infinity War. And, considering Marvel trailers' love for voiceovers, fans should expect the Avengers 4 trailer to use some kind of voiceover - perhaps from Thanos or Tony Stark - to introduce this post-snap world. But in terms of actual footage, it's unclear what, if anything at all, will be showcased.
