Charlie's Angels: First Official Photo Teases Globe-Spanning Adventures

Sony Pictures has unveiled the first promotional image for Charlie's Angels, to celebrate the movie being exactly one year away from release (after said release date was pushed back by five weeks). The big screen reboot is currently filming with Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) directing, and a new trio of Angels played by Naomi Scott, Kristen Stewart, and Ella Balinska.

In a new twist on the franchise, the Townsend Agency in the new Charlie's Angels movie will be a worldwide operation, with multiple Bosleys (Banks is playing one, while Djimon Hounsou and Patrick Stewart are playing other Bosleys), and an entire network of Angels rather than just one team of three. In light of this, the first official image for Charlie's Angels highlights the fact that the agents can be found all over the world.

Shared on the Sony Pictures Twitter page with the caption "One year until #CharliesAngels. 11.1.2019," the image shows a woman (out of focus, so it's hard to tell if she's one of the main three actresses) holding up two cards for the Townsend Agency: one with Charlie's number on it, and another with a list of locations that the agency operates from. Apparently you can find Charlie's Angels in many corners of the globe, including South America, Europe, India and - of course - the United States. As a bonus, you can actually call up the number listed on the card on the left - +1 (857)242-7543 - to hear a special message from Elizabeth Banks' Bosley.

Presumably the three main Angels in the movie will operate out of the Los Angeles branch of the Townsend Agency, but the fact that the elite private investigation company has Angels all over the world means that there's a good chance we'll get to meet one or more of the other teams as well - especially since the movie will feature different Bosleys. If there's a Bosley for every location, then Banks' Bosley is probably assigned to Los Angeles, Patrick Stewart's Bosley to London, and Djimon Hounsou's to Nairobi - or possibly Berlin, given that some filming has already taken place in Germany.

It's unclear how many of the countries indicated on the second card will appear in the movie, but it definitely seems like the Angels' mission (whatever it might be) is going to take them on a trip around the world. It's been 15 years since the release of the last movie in the franchise, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and it's possible that Banks' film will be a sequel of sorts rather than a full reboot, revealing that Townsend Agency has spent the last decade expanding its operations. Who knows - perhaps we'll even get to see Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore in cameo roles!
