Marvel Studios Launches Avengers 4 Countdown Clock

The countdown to Avengers 4 is officially on, thanks to a clock becoming part of the film's official Marvel page. After remaining silent on how Avengers 4 will wrap up Phase 3, Marvel may be preparing to reveal some of the mystery. The first trailer is widely expected to come in the next few weeks, and Marvel's official website now has a home for the untitled event film.

Following the jaw-dropping ending of Avengers: Infinity War, fans around the world have been not-so-patiently waiting for details on what the followup will hold. Everyone expected Marvel Studios to maintain their typical secrecy, but they've chartered into unprecedented territory with the lack of information they've revealed for Avengers 4. As of right now, we don't know the movie's actual title, have not a single official image, and are still in the dark on the exact date the trailer will launch. It's all been part of a crazy swell of anticipation for any single piece of information regarding the next movie, and even Marvel's now counting down.

Marvel's website launched a page for Avengers: Untitled Movie today and did so with a countdown clock, just as they did with Spider-Man: Far From Home. Considering the level of secrecy they've operated with so far, this is basically the first piece of marketing for Avengers 4. While the countdown doesn't reveal much else (other than confirming Marvel is still officially planning for a May 3 release), it's hopefully a signal that some actual marketing materials will arrive shortly. And if not, there's only 176 days before the movie hits theaters.

Although Marvel has been tight-lipped when it comes to official details about Avengers 4, there's been plenty of rumors, theories, and leaks to tide fans over. Since not everyone (or even every fan) is looking at these leaks, Marvel needs some official details on the movie to get the larger conversation started. Many are pointing to the end of November (when Marvel released Infinity War's first trailer last year) as the possible launching point for Avengers 4's marketing campaign.

Whenever Marvel decides to start marketing, we do know it'll be before the year ends. Kevin Feige has promised on multiple occasions that the title and trailer will be revealed by the end of 2018. Time is quickly running out and without the use of the Time Stone, that leaves Marvel Studios with less than two months to launch the promotional campaign for Avengers 4. How much they reveal and how quickly they do so will be just as fascinating to see at this point. If they've already been so quiet up until now, the actual marketing campaign's goal could be to reveal as little as possible too. Infinity War's marketing campaign revealed plenty of the plot but held out several major reveals,. Since Marvel saw $2 billion come their way as a result, a similar campaign could be on the way for Avengers 4.
