The Michigan State University marching band is the latest group to pay tribute to the late Stan Lee. Lee passed away roughly two weeks ago, and fans are still mourning the death of the Marvel comics legend who created and co-created several superheroes that have since been adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ever since the news broke about Lee's passing, his fans, co-workers, and various industry professionals have been paying tribute to the Marvel legend by posting on social media and sending their thoughts to his family. Likewise, the original six Avengers actors paid their respect to the fallen hero by paying for a tribute page in The Hollywood Reporter, while Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman even gave Lee a musical tribute. The general public who didn't know Lee personally have also been paying tribute by building a shrine on Lee's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in Los Angeles, and now the Michigan State marching band has joined in on the celebration of Lee's life.

Posting on the official Twitter account for Michigan State University's Spartan marching band, the school's marching band dedicated one of their recent performances to Lee's memory. As the pictures below show, the band played their instruments while lining up in two Stan Lee-inspired formations. The band formed the Avengers logo and also the word "Excelsior!," which isn't just the state motto for New York, but Lee's personal catchphrase.
Lee may have created several superheroes for Marvel, but he had also been appearing in cameo roles for TV shows, movies, and video games for quite some time as well. As it so happens, Lee will make some posthumous appearances on screen, given that he had already filmed various cameos for upcoming Disney and Marvel movies. He filmed cameos for Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, and it has yet to be confirmed if he filmed a cameo for Spider-Man: Far From Home. He also lent his voice to a cameo in the Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and he'll appear in yet another animated cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The world no doubt lost a legend when Lee passed away, but his work in the comic and film industry will never be forgotten. In fact, it's unlikely that he will ever be replaced. The massive success of superhero movies isn't showing any sign of slowing down any time soon, and though fans will no doubt mourn the loss of Stan Lee, his legacy will live on through his characters, as well as the creative impact he had on modern artists.
