Red Dead Redemption 2 is home to one of the strangest video game glitches we've seen in some time, as a specific road in the game causes horses to spontaneously combust on contact. Red Dead Redemption 2 has its fair share of funny glitches, but most of them are one-off occurrences due to the game engine misbehaving, not repeating errors like this one.
A prequel to its 2010 predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely regarded as one of the best open world games ever, centering on an outlaw named Arthur Morgan, one of the standout members of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang, as he navigates through the dying Old West at the turn of the century. Players have taken to the long-awaited sequel in droves, leading to broken records in sales in its opening weekend alone. However, the success of the game isn't without a handful of flaws; and, in Red Dead Redemption 2's case, the flaws come in the form of a glitch that sets fire to the gamer's horse.

Despite the game's masterful attention to detail, this latest glitch breaks the illusion of Red Dead Redemption 2's realistic western frontier. According to The Verge, players attempting to enter the town of Rhodes cross through what appears to be an invisible fire, making it appear as though objects, characters, or creatures spontaneously combust. And, seeing as the fire is invisible to NPCs, the path to Rhodes is littered with the burnt corpses of horses who unfortunately tried passing through.
As if the effect of the glitch wasn't disturbing enough, players who have uploaded videos of the event have also experienced unidentifiable black spots popping up out of nowhere, as well as various objects ignoring physics and mysteriously clipping through the ground. Barely a month since its release, these glitches may well hint at even more to come down the line.
As of now, Rockstar Games has yet to address the glitch, so there's always an outside chance the invisible fire is actually an Easter Egg of some sort - but this remains to be seen. Red Dead Redemption 2 glitches have been popping up since the game's launch, and it doesn't seem like Rockstar is particularly worried, especially with patches undoubtedly on their way. That said, Red Dead Redemption 2 can always embrace this one particular glitch as a kind of in-game urban legend seeing as gamers appear to appreciate its morbid nature.
