Toy Story 4 Fan Art Features John Wick Toy & Dead Slinky Dog

Bridging together two unlikely target audiences, some new multi-genre fan art features a mashup of Toy Story 4 and John Wick. The image brings together a classic Toy Story character and setting and cleverly connects it with John Wick's titular character, tying in with the recent announcement that Keanu Reeves will voice a new character in Pixar's upcoming Toy Story sequel.

In the Toy Story franchise, Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) are forced to set aside their differences as they embark on a series of adventures alongside a giant slew of fellow toy companions. Having grown up with a boy named Andy, the toys ultimately parted ways with him at the end of Toy Story 3, and their journey will enter uncharted territory - presumably with their new owner, a young girl named Bonnie - in next summer's Toy Story 4. As for the John Wick franchise, the titular character (played by Keanu Reeves) is a retired hitman who reenters the world of underground crime after gangsters kill his pet dog. Side-by-side, the two franchises couldn't seem any more different, but that didn't stop a new piece of fan art from flawlessly tying them together.

As different as the Toy Story and John Wick franchises may be, the artist known as BossLogic has managed to find one connective thread. With Reeves officially on board for Toy Story 4, BossLogic created a fake teaser poster for the movie in which a toy version of John Wick is standing in front of a dismembered Slinky Dog - one of the key supporting characters in the Toy Story movies. It's also worth noting that the scene is set in the bedroom of Sid Phillips, the main antagonist in the first Toy Story who mutilates toys as a pastime.

The first Toy Story focused heavily on toy mutilation - even going so far as to send some toys to their deaths. So, with the precedent already being set, this fan art setting is especially fitting. And, even though it's unlikely that Reeves will be voicing a hitman-like character similar to John Wick in Toy Story 4 (the identity of his character has yet to be revealed), Reeves will be playing the character yet again in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 3, which is currently in the middle of filming.

While BossLogic is no stranger to crafting clever fan art and mashups, this addition to his digital oeuvre is especially creative. He's recently been releasing DCEU/MCU mashups as part of his "ElseBothworlds" series, but this particular faux teaser poster goes so far as to fashion a toy version of Reeves' sympathetic hitman and elicit legitimate sympathy from a plastic slinky dog - a true testament to both the John Wick and Toy Story franchises.
