Winter Soldier & Falcon Fan Poster Imagines Serpent Society TV Show

The Serpent Society is the focus of the Winter Soldier & Falcon series in a new fan poster. Starting next year, when Disney launches a streaming service of their own, Marvel Studios (not Marvel TV) will begin releasing live-action limited series'. The first two that were announced will feature Loki and Scarlet Witch, but neither appear to be as far along as the recently announced series that will pair up Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie).

Details surrounding the latest Marvel streaming series are scarce, but it's confirmed that Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is writing the series, while Stan and Mackie will return as their MCU heroes, Winter Soldier and Falcon, respectively. Since the project was just announced and is still in the early stages of development, who or what these two heroes will be teaming up against has yet to be revealed.

With speculation surrounding the identity of their inevitable nemeses, a fan poster for the series by Lord Tectonic imagines them squaring off against the Serpent Society. The poster features altered costumes for both Winter Soldier and Falcon, as both have implemented green accents into their costumes. This design choice from the artist fits stylistically with the overarching Serpent Society theme.

The Serpent Society is a group of Marvel villains who aren't only imbued with snake-related names, but snake-like powers and costumes. Some of the more established members of the group include Cottonmouth and Bushmaster, who have already appeared in the MCU on the recently-canceled Netflix series Luke Cage. The original lineup included the characters Sidewinder, Anaconda, Black Mamba, and Death Adder. From there, the group has grown to include over two dozen different snake-themed Marvel villains.

Although there's no guarantee that the featured green costumes will be implemented into the actual series, it's still entirely feasible. As the Instagram post mentions, Marvel Studios had once briefly given off the impression that the third Captain America movie was going to be titled Captain America: Serpent Society. This was referred to during Marvel Studios' Phase 3 slate reveal in 2014, where Kevin Feige falsely revealed that this would be the title - that is until he ultimately brought Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chadwick Boseman on stage to confirm it would actually be titled Captain America: Civil War. The Serpent Society hasn't been discussed since, leaving it open to future Marvel Studios adaptations.

Whether or not Falcon and Winter Soldier will face off against the Serpent Society remains to be seen, but the upcoming series would be a perfect opportunity to plant the seeds for a more pronounced role for them in the future. If the series were to initially incorporate smaller-scale opponents from the Society for the duo to face off against, it can potentially set up the idea that the Society is growing, thus allowing a stronger presence later on in Marvel Studios' timeline. However, with such little information currently available on the Winter Soldier & Falcon series, only time will tell at the moment.
