Marvel's Eternals Set Photos Back Up Black Knight Plot Rumors

New set photos for Marvel's Eternals show Kit Harington and Gemma Chan in character, further supporting the rumors surrounding part of the movie's plot. Eternals is one of the many superhero films coming out this year and is possibly the most ambitious out of all of them thanks to the scope of the story and size of the cast. As the second official film in the MCU's Phase Four, Eternals will introduce the titular group of ancient god-like beings with incredible abilities who protect humanity from afar. Earlier this week, Marvel released an official synopsis of the film and confirmed it would take place after the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

Eternals' cast includes, in addition to Harington and Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, and Angelina Jolie. In the months since the film's official announcement, few details have been made public. However, as production continues fans have been granted more and more looks through various set photos that have emerged, including recent images showing Eternals stars Harington and Chan. Harington will play Dane Whitman/Black Knight, and Chan will play Sersi.

More set photos of Harington and Chan have surfaced with the two still dressed in civilian clothing via Daniel Richtman on Twitter. What's notable about these new pictures is that they basically confirm Eternals will depict the romance between their characters, something that was only speculated after the previous batch of photos. While the new images are blurry, they still show Harington and Chan standing very close together. Check them out below:

Dane and Sersi have a complicated romantic relationship in the comics due to a number of factors, but Eternals might not follow that exact plot. Regardless of how close their plot sticks to the comics, their relationship should be an interesting one, especially since Dane isn't an Eternal like Sersi, he is a human.

The Eternals plot is already shaping up to be very intriguing based on the synopsis' mention of "an unexpected tragedy," as well as the fact that Eternals' story will span over 7,000 years. It might be so packed that Dane and Sersi's romance doesn't get much screen time, or it could be one of the most vital parts of the plot. Right now, it's anyone's guess as to what will happen in EternalsFans can only hypothesize based on the set photos that have made their way to the internet as they await more official news, which probably won't come until after Black Widow hits theaters in May.
