The Star Wars sequel trilogy came to an end in December with The Rise of Skywalker releasing. As with all movies before it, it's proven to be rather divisive among both fans and critics alike.
One of the reasons why it's split opinion is you can't help but feel more explaining, much, more explaining, needs to be done. Fortunately, Disney+ can offer the company a chance to fill in some of the blanks that have prompted so much debate online. So here are five characters we'd love a TV series on - and five who we think don't need one.
10 Do: Supreme Leader Snoke/Palpatine
In the years in between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, everybody had wondered who Supreme Leader Snoke was. However, it wouldn't be until The Rise of Skywalker's release that we'd learn Andy Serkis' character was actually a creation of Emperor Palpatine's the entire time.
We know this because we see Snoke clones in a tank, which is all rather strange and puzzling. However, this could easily be explained on the small screen. It would be the perfect way of explaining how Palpatine survived his fall down the Death Star in Return of the Jedi and could shed some light on how Snoke came to exist, and whether the one we see on-screen is the original - or just another clone.
9 Don't: Rey
A second mystery that took up most of the sequel trilogy was who Rey was. Who were her parents? What was her family name? How was she able to beat Kylo Ren with such little training. How was she so powerful?
But with all those questions answered, we don't need to know what happens next. Her story has been told and, with no Jedi out there that she knows of, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she were to spend the rest of her days living on Tatooine, a planet that bares such similarities to her homeworld of Jakku.
8 Do: Kylo Ren
A Kylo Ren TV series is definitely needed. If we got one about Snoke and Palpatine, then we could learn just how they were able to lure him to the dark side.
This is still a mystery to us. We still don't know exactly why Kylo Ren turned, or what he was offered in order to do so. Sure, the common consensus is he was left by his family with Luke Skywalker against his will. But, until we have a sure answer, the desire to see Adam Driver's character return will only grow.
7 Don't: Finn
Don't get us wrong, we absolutely love John Boyega's character. And we genuinely feel more should have been made from Finn, particularly given the fact he's the first Stormtrooper we ever meet to actually defect from such a vile regime.
But that time, unfortunately, has passed. There would literally be no point in expanding on the defected stormtroopers now, especially with The Rise of Skywalker out of the way. It would make very little sense to visit that point in time, too, particularly so close to the movie's release.
6 Do: Poe Dameron
When asked if he'd consider playing the character if Poe Dameron again, actor Oscar Isaac was pretty emphatic in his response. "No," he said with a big smile on his face.
That's a crying shame because Poe has potential. The fact we learn in The Rise of Skywalker that he used to be a spice runner, and therefore had a murky and criminal past, gives Disney the perfect storyline to work with. Imagine a show where Poe and Zori Bliss go about their dodgy activities while trying to evade capture? This is something we feel Disney needs to talk Isaac round on.
5 Don't: Rose Tico
We really feel sorry for Kelly Marie Tran. Fans were absolutely brutal towards the actress after The Last Jedi, with some going as far to state that Rose Tico is the worst character they've ever seen involved in a Star Wars movie.
However, while we absolutely condemn some of the treatment she received, Rose doesn't need a show either. We learned about her past during TLJ and, with her romantic storyline with Finn going nowhere, that means there's little desire for the character to make a comeback on the small screen.
4 Do: DJ
You remember DJ right? The man who popped in The Last Jedi, appeared to be on the side of Finn and Rose only to end up grassing them up to the First Order? Well, despite Benicio del Torro's character dividing opinion, he's definitely got enough intrigue about him.
It would be fascinating to find out whether he was among the hundreds of ships that fought with the Final Order on Exegol. It would also be interesting to know that, as a man who had connections everywhere, if he was somebody who knew more about the wider picture than he first let on...
3 Don't: Maz Kanata
When we first met Maz Kanata in The Force Awakens, she was introduced as somebody who knew a fair bit about the galaxy and what goes on there. After all, she even had Luke Skywalker's old lightsaber, which we'd last seen falling down a bottomless pit on Cloud City during The Empire Strikes Back.
But Maz's character was somewhat wasted, only making brief cameos in the two sequel trilogy movies that followed. And, with comics poised to tell the story of how she came to obtain Luke's iconic weapon, that means there's certainly no point in building a new story for the character.
2 Do: Enric Pryde
For the first two sequel trilogy Star Wars movies, fans had seen Kylo Ren and General Hux come to blows. The duo, despite having the common goal of destroying the Resistance and any Jedi who oppose them, fail to see eye to eye.
Eventually, Kylo finds backing in Enric Pryde, who is played by the superb Richard E Grant. What’s fascinating, however, is that he served Palpatine before, during the Clone Wars. He’s a character who is villainous enough to appear intriguing and it would be great to see how he was able to rise through the ranks of the First Order, particularly when he becomes one of the biggest threats to the galaxy towards the end of The Rise of Skywalker.
1 Don’t: General Hux
Ah, poor General Hux. He really did seem like the sequel trilogy version of Grand Moff Tarkin when he appeared in The Force Awakens, snarling at Kylo Ren and following the orders of Supreme Leader Snoke.
But, in the two movies that followed, Hux regressed. He was made a comedic figure in The Last Jedi and, in The Rise of Skywalker, announced himself as a mole within the First Order before Pryde shot him dead. We feel that with Pryde the better bad guy of the two, it wouldn’t make sense to do anything more with Hux’s character.
