Along with a new trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 4 title Ghost of Tsushima, PlayStation has revealed the collector's edition version of the game, which fans will undoubtedly be dying to get their hands on. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the PlayStation 2's Sly Cooper trilogy and the inFamous series, Ghost of Tsushima was originally revealed in October 2017 during Sony's Paris Games Week presentation and has been on fans' collective radar ever since.
Aside from The Last of Us Part II, which will release on May 29th, Ghost of Tsushima is likely to be one of the last major PlayStation 4 exclusives, with the release of the PlayStation 5 set for the end of 2020. Following Sony's announcement that they would forego E3 yet again, and with no State of Play presentations currently announced, fans had begun to wonder when a release date or more information on the action-packed samurai title would emerge. Thankfully, today's new Ghost of Tsushima trailer gave those players exactly what they had been waiting for.
The latest update on Ghost of Tsushima, provided by PlayStation, reveals several collector's editions and pre-order bonuses arriving alongside the game in June, with plenty of samurai-inspired items for fans to enjoy. Those looking to add a little extra to their experience can pick up the Digital Deluxe Edition of Ghost of Tsushima, which offers some special in-game items such as a Technique Point, Charm of Hachiman's Favor, Hero of Tsushima skin set, digital mini art book, and director's commentary, or the Limited Edition, which includes all of the previously mentioned digital goodies and a collectible SteelBook case, each retailing for $69.99. Additionally, the Ghost of Tsushima Collector's Edition will retail for $169.99 and will include a host of items including a dynamic PlayStation 4 theme, Jin Sakai avatar, Sashimono war banner, Furoshiki wrapping cloth, digital in-game extras found in the Digital Deluxe and Limited Editions, and a replica of Jin Sakai's mask – complete with a display stand. Pre-orders for these limited editions are beginning to open, so fans patiently awaiting this incredible title won't want to wait too long to get their order in.
Following protagonist Jin Sakai, one of the only remaining samurai out for revenge following the Mongol invasion of his homeland, Ghost of Tsushima is a dramatic story loosely based on the real-world events of the Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island in 1274. In an attempt to thwart the oncoming invasion, Jin's comrades are overwhelmed and massacred, leaving Jin to haunt the Mongol invaders who took everything from him.
Ghost of Tsushima looks to be properly mind-blowing, with each trailer boasting some of the most incredible visuals ever seen on the PlayStation 4 hardware. If Ghost of Tsushima is the final PlayStation 4 exclusive on Sony's docket, it is shaping up to be a phenomenal swan song for the system – sporting a suitably fantastic Collector's Edition, too.
Ghost of Tsushima will release exclusively for PS4 on June 26th, 2020.
