Schitt's Creek: The Worst Thing Each Main Character Has Done

Now in its final season, Schitt's Creek concludes the trials and tribulations of Johnny, Moira, David, and Alexis while also showcasing their progress and successes. What began as a desperate fight for survival has resulted in each of them blossoming because of country living, whether they like it or not.

And the townspeople of Schitt's Creek are no better, even though compared to the Roses they're often a paradigm of human decency.

10 JOHNNY: MOVED HIS FAMILY TO SCHITT'S CREEK

As the steadfast anchor of the Rose clan, ex video store mogul Johnny Rose isn't in the habit of doing horrible things to his family. He may not have been a truly present father in the lives of his children while they were growing up, but he's been making up for it since. Except for the small incidental detail of uprooting them from everything they knew and transplanting them to Schitt's Creek.

What Johnny had to do in a moment of crisis may have appeared at the time unforgivable to his family, but perhaps one day they'll thank him.

9 MOIRA: MADE DAVID'S MARRIAGE PROPOSAL ABOUT HERSELF

Following production's end on The Crows Have Eyes III: The Crowening, Moira returned to Schitt's Creek to find that her family had moved on with their various lives. Johnny was thinking about expanding the Rosebud Motel, Alexis had resumed her relationship with Ted, and David had just gotten proposed to by Patrick.

Not satisfied that everyone else's attention was so diverted away from her, Moira had to have a meltdown. She couldn't even be happy for the progress her family had made in their personal lives because she was too consumed with worry about the state of The Crowening in post production.

8 DAVID: RAN AWAY FROM HOME

While David's wild mood swings often meant that at any given moment he could become as melodramatic as his mother, his pettiness usually resulted in simply skipping Alexis's graduation because everyone forgot his birthday. When he really wanted to make a dramatic impact (and exit), he ran away from home to go back to New York City.

He didn't end up making it very far, but the Roses were worried sick (Alexis less so, especially since she ignored his text after he disappeared), eventually rounding up a search party to go find him. They found him ironically living among the Amish, and never so happy to come back to his small town life. It was punishment enough.

7 ALEXIS: BROKE TED'S HEART

For the first year in Schitt's Creek, Alexis acted the part of the petulant party girl, incredibly disappointed that she was stuck in a small town while her influencer friends had the time of their lives back in the big city. To console herself, she found one of the only attractive men in town, the hipster Mutt, and started a steamy romance.

This dalliance with Mutt made her blind to her true soulmate Ted, the charming, punny veterinarian who hired her as his receptionist. Her romance with Mutt made her play with Ted's feelings, often using him when Mutt was being insensitive. Ted wasn't going to wait around forever while she made him a convenience, so eventually she had to make him her first choice.

6 ROLAND: WOKE UP NEXT TO MOIRA NAKED

Roland has a number of bad habits, from over-sharing about his sex life with Jocelyn to constantly reminding everyone about his mayorship, but there are times when he goes too far (even for him). When he attended the Regional Association of Municipalities Conference with Moira, he ended up going to bed with her in the nude.

Moira had had one glass of wine too many, and when she woke up the next morning, she found herself in bed with Roland, who was sprawled naked beside her. Viewers come to find out she was the one that crawled into his bed, not the other way around, but he didn't even put on a robe when he knew she was awake.

5 TED: BROKE UP WITH ALEXIS

It's almost a total impossibility that Ted would be capable of doing anything malicious, except perhaps by accident. Champion of bunny rights, and frequent user of dad jokes, he's known as one of the nicest people in Schitt's Creek. It's his boyish charm that make even his worst animal puns tolerable.

Even though the decision was arrived at somewhat mutually between he and Alexis, the worst thing Ted could have done was break up with her in the final season. She was finally as in love with him as he was with her, and she'd grown up so much since she'd tried to play him against rival suitors in the first two seasons, that it seemed like one simple flight to the Galapagos Island wouldn't be enough to stop true love.

4 PATRICK: DIDN'T TELL HIS PARENTS ABOUT DAVID

Unlike the Roses, Patrick is rational and straightforward - except when it comes to breaking the news to his parents about his sexuality. When he becomes more than business partners with David, and his parents come to town for a visit, he has to break the horrible news to David that they haven't been made aware he exists in Patrick's life as his boyfriend.

Patrick has to summon the courage to not only tell them that he's gay, but that he's already in a relationship - with the person they've only known to be his business associate. To his credit, David handles the situation with aplomb, though the same can't be said for Johnny, who inadvertently spills the beans anyway.

3 JOCELYN: ACCUSED MOIRA OF HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH ROLAND

Due to both being in local government, Moira and Roland attend the Regional Association of Municipalities Conference and leave their spouses back in Schitt's Creek. When news gets back to Johnny and Jocelyn about how exactly they spent the night together, with Moira drunk and Roland in the nude, Jocelyn starts to suspect foul play.

She accuses Moira of having an affair with her husband, which Johnny assures her couldn't possibly have happened because he believes in the stability of their marriage. While Jocelyn is normally nothing but kind and compassionate towards the Roses, this is one of a handful of times she loses her cheery demeanor and lets her true opinions be known.

2 TWYLA: TRIED TO MAKE ALEXIS DUMP MUTT

Twyla never does anything horrible, horrible things just happen to Twyla. Whether it's having an uncle who had fingers removed for not paying a debt to the mob, a father in prison for fraud, or a mother who tried to take her to a cult on Spring Break, she's lived a dark life and somehow never lost her smile.

One of the only times Twyla ever hinted at having a malicious bone in her body was when she tried to subtly influence Alexis to dump Mutt. She'd declare all of the songs and poetry she was writing about him in a vain attempt to get Alexis to believe he was really better off with someone else, such as a cheery waitress at Cafe Tropical.

1 STEVIE: STOLE DAVID'S BOYFRIEND

Many viewers weren't a fan of Jake, who managed to insert himself in between David and Stevie's budding friendship right when they were the most vulnerable. He became the boyfriend that David and Stevie both found out they were inadvertently dating at the same time, which made their own relationship even more complicated.

Stevie and David ultimately decided they couldn't date, but neither could they both date the person they'd moved on from each other for. Stevie ultimately came out the victor by getting Jake, but at a cost to her relationship with David. When she eventually saw the light, he was there to welcome her back to their unique friendship.
