Season 35 The Challenge: Total Madness has revealed its cast members and a new twist. The mental and physical games will push its contestants to the extreme this season while located in the Czech Republic.
The MTV series The Challenge was first aired as a spinoff in 1990, combining The Real World and Road Rules to make one super competition with its cast of reality stars. At the start of each season, contestants are placed into teams, then put head-to-head in physical and mental challenges. The goal for each season is to have made it to the finale, where the only remaining cast member wins a cash prize and bragging rights. If contestants are lucky while competing on the show, some end up finding their soul mate and life partner.
MTV has announced that they were back with 28 players in a new game called, The Challenge: Total Madness. The cast is a mix of veteran players, Big Brother, Ex on The Beach and So You Think You Can Dance. According to E! there will be an all-star lineup which will include cast members from Australia and the United Kingdom. The bigger news that MTV dropped was the fact that they will be premiering the show globally on MTV’s international networks.
According to MTV, this season will show the return of solo gameplay instead of the normal team format. The individual players will have to conquer challenge after challenge to get to the one-million-dollar prize. The music network also unveiled that there will be shocking twists, including “mental warfare.” The intense competition show will be taking place in a literal war zone and is set to air on April 1.
The veterans confirmed to return are Aneesa Ferreira, Nelson Thomas, Jenna Compono, Ashley Mitchell, Johnny Bananas and fan-favorite CT Tamburello. While the U.K. crew will be made up of Rogan O’Connor, Kyle Christie, Jennifer West, who is a twin and popular Instagram star, Dee Nguyen, Melissa Reeves, and Stephen Bear. But some familiar faces will not be returning to the show, such as Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore. There were rumors that Johnny was trying to have Paulie banned from the show for the past three seasons. While other cast members have disputed this story, saying Paulie had failed the psych evaluation that is a mandate for all competitors. Cara Maria was said to have chosen to stay at her home in Montana to support her boyfriend.
The upcoming season looks as if it will be packed with epic battles and juicy gossip. The mix of old and new should also add for an interesting dynamic as the stars fight for their chance at the huge monetary prize.
The Challenge airs April 1 on MTV.
