From Homer Simpson To Artie Ziff: 10 Men Who Could Have Been With Marge, Ranked

Everyone knows that Homer and Marge from The Simpsons are one of TV’s most popular couples. They also happen to have one of the most troubled marriages, leading many fans to believe that Marge should leave Homer before the show comes to an end for good. If Marge did end up leaving Homer, there are a few men that she might end up with, based on her past love interests and relationships.

There are a few bachelors in Springfield, but are they better for Marge than Homer himself? Keep reading to see our ranking of the men that could have ended up with Marge and her true soulmate.

10 The Worst Guy For Marge: Mr. Burns

It’s hard to imagine anybody being worse for Marge than Mr. Burns. This is a man who tried to block out the sun and sets his hounds on anybody who comes knocking on his mansion door. Plus, he’s not above sexually harassing Marge at work. While Marge has never shown interest in Mr. Burns, he does develop a crush on her when she briefly works at the Nuclear Power Plant. If she had lower standards, they might have ended up together!

9 Artie Ziff

Marge might have ended up being with Marge if things had gone down differently at their prom. When Artie tried to touch her without her consent in the car after prom, Marge pulls the pin on their date and realizes that she should have gone to the prom with Homer. Later, Artie becomes one of the richest men in America, but he’s still not quite up to Marge’s standards.

8 Stefane August

Stefane August appears briefly in the show as Marge’s university tutor. She does develop feelings for him and even imagines Homer as Stefane. But this character is totally unsuitable for Marge. For one thing, he’s not interested in marriage, while she takes pride in being a housewife. And he’s also incredibly arrogant, even calling Homer and Marge ‘townies’.

7 Moe Szyslack

At no point in the show does Marge ever show romantic interest in Moe. But the bartender makes it abundantly clear that he’s keen on her. Any time that Homer is remotely out of the picture, Moe moves in to make his move.

And to be totally honest, Marge could do a lot better than Moe.

6 Apu Nahasapeemapetilon

Marge and Apu never actually fall in love or develop feelings for one another. That said, when Apu’s mother comes to Springfield, he pretends to be married to Marge to get out of his arranged marriage. If things had worked out differently, maybe Marge and Apu could have ended up together, but this is another match that doesn’t suit very well. Apu is a lot more hardworking than Homer, but Marge wouldn’t want someone who spends so much time away from home, even if he is earning money.

5 Lenny Leonard

Some Simpsons fans have speculated that there may have been something more than friendship between Marge and Lenny, since footage of them in high school shows Lenny appearing to have his arm around Marge. It’s no secret that Marge—like the rest of Springfield—admires Lenny, so it’s possible that they could have ended up together in an alternate universe. Lenny is great in a lot of ways, but he’s not Homer.

4 Jacques

Marge is an incredibly loyal wife to Homer, but there is one notable instance where she nearly strays from their marriage. After Homer selfishly gifts her a bowling ball for her birthday, she begins taking private lessons from a handsome and intense man at the alley named Jacques.

The two very nearly have an affair, but Marge realizes she loves Homer too much. If it weren’t for his being slightly sleazy, Jacques would probably make Marge happy.

3 Alberto

In one of Homer and Marge’s flashbacks, fans learn that the couple nearly cheated on each other in the early years of their marriage. Marge meets Alberto, an attractive man throwing a house party, and runs off with him to a nearby country cabin while Homer does the same with a woman called Sylvia. As fate would have it, Alberto and Sylvia end up hitting it off, while Marge rekindles her love with Homer.

2 Ned Flanders

Although Ned Flanders is happily married to Maude until her premature death and would never think to be unfaithful to her, there does seem to be a certain chemistry between Marge and her neighbor. Homer repeatedly shows his jealousy of Ned, and Marge and Ned grow particularly close when they both star in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire. It’s true that Ned can be annoying and overbearing at times, but he’d also be a very considerate partner. Marge would never feel like she was being taken for granted with Ned Flanders as her husband.

1 The Best Guy For Marge: Homer Simpson

Homer Simpson has disappointed Marge more times than he can count. Many fans of the show are of the opinion that Marge should have left him a long time ago. But through it all, Homer is still the best match for Marge. He loves her unconditionally, even if he doesn’t always show it.
