All 57 Movies & TV Shows MISSING From HBO Max At Launch

Warner Media's new streaming service HBO Max is now alive and kicking, but it didn't arrive with everything previously advertised for launch. To be fair, HBO Max did launch with a large library of movies and TV shows to watch, and more will surely be added in the coming days. The problem is that advertising certain titles to potential subscribers, and then not having those titles available when someone signs up at a high price on launch day, effectively amounts to a bait and switch.

Of course, there's really no reason to believe this was done purposefully, in an attempt to deceive customers. Warner Media is a big enough company to realize such actions, if proven,  could result in a huge backlash. It's most likely that someone got their wires crossed when the information on available HBO Max titles was making its way from those actually acquiring various movies and shows for the service to Warner Media's public relations team.

Either way, it made HBO Max's launch day a mixed bag for those eager to try the service out, as while the Harry Potter library was included as a surprise, many other previously advertised movies and shows were sadly absent. Here's a full rundown of what's missing.

As can be seen above, HBO Max's launch line-up is missing a whopping 57 movies and TV shows advertised as launch titles in their past press releases. One wonders if these titles were ever actually planned for launch, or some type of confusion caused them to be mistakenly listed as such. It looks like several of them might be added soon, as they're set to expire from rival streaming services, and presumably all will end up on HBO Max before the end of the 2020. Either way, the fact that Warner Media has gone back and retroactively scrubbed these titles from its press materials suggests they're a bit embarrassed about the mix-up.
