The Real Housewives: 10 Housewives With Singing Career

The Real Housewives are known for their dramatic antics on Bravo, as they navigate their friendships, perceived slights, and frenemy relationships. But many of the housewives also have separate careers that have nothing to do with their roles on the show.

Here are the housewives who are singers, or at least have released a song or two.

10 Erika Jayne

Erika Jayne has one of the hottest housewive singing careers there is. This Beverly Hills housewife takes the stage as her alter ego and puts on a show to die for. She was even recently on Broadway playing Roxie Hart in Chicago, although her run was sadly cut short.

For the uninitiated, Erika Jayne is a sultry, fabulous, icon who leaves it all on stage belting out catchy dance hits in eye-popping numbers. Unlike for many of the Housewives singing women, for Erika, this is a true career path with a point of view and a direction. Performing is definitely where she shines.

9 Kandi Burruss

Kandi Burruss has been a singer/songwriter all her life and she is good at it. She was part of the girl-group Xscape in the '90s and was behind massive hits like TLC's No Scrubs, for which she won a grammy.

Being a housewife hasn't slowed her down at all, and she's constantly writing, producing, and singing her way across Atlanta. Her talent is truly inspiring.

8 LuAnn de Lesseps

Money can't buy you class, but it certainly can buy you a singing career. While de Lesseps is more showman than on-key, her songs do have a certain undeniable catchiness and do a great job at winking towards the show, for those who are already her fans.

LuAnn de Lesseps has been at her singing for a while now and continues to perform on the show, cleverly mixing her business and her Bravo work. The best housewives are the ones who channel their platform into growing something bigger for themselves. A round of applause for the countess.

7 Demetria McKinney

Demetria McKinney has been in a number of musicals, including Dreamgirls in her time. Aside from this, she's spent her time mostly in the R&B space, releasing an album and several singles throughout her career.

She was also named  NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist in 2017.

6 Kim Zolciak-Biermann

Zolciak-Biermann's singing was a focal point of her time on Atlanta. For her first single, "Don't be Tardy for the Party," Zolciak-Biermann joined with fellow housewife Burruss, but the relationship went incredibly sour, with Burruss accusing Zolciak-Biermann of keeping her fair share of the money from her.

Despite this, and the fact that it seemed like Zolciak-Biermann was not initially as invested as she ought to be, the song was catch, as were the handful that followed.

5 Shamari Fears

Shamari joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta in Season 11 and definitely brought her singing chops, winning an impromptu sing-off with Kandi during the season. Shamari is the lead singing in the R&B group Blaque, and also sings with her husband, Ronnie Devoe.

While she didn't make it long as a housewife, her singing lives on.

4 Gretchen Rossi

Gretchen Rossi has been a singing fiend for a while now. In 2013, she recorded a song on Housewives in order to propose to her highly contentious boyfriend, Slade Smiley. Happily for her, he accepted the harmonious proposal, though oftentimes their relationship with one another and with the women was anything but.

The couple, however, survived scrutiny and remain together, and Rossi also continues to sing. She's had a number of dance hits and also shared her feelings about the hardships in her life through music.

3 Shereé Whitfield

Shereé Whitfield is another housewife who cleverly used her show clout to wink at fans and sell her songs. In Season 2 of the show, she told a party planner she was having a massive fight with, "Who gon’ check me, boo?”

Needless to say, the quote landed with audiences and became her catchphrase from that point on. A few years later, she cleverly turned it into a song aimed against Nene Leakes. While Whitfield may not be turning into a career singer just yet, she definitely used her voice to make quite the point.

2 Kenya Moore

Kenya Moore is definitely a hustler on Housewives. If there is a venture she can be part of, she goes for it. So it's no surprise that she released a song of her own. She too tapped into one of her catchphrases, made famous by the show, to produce a club/dance hit called "Gone With The Wind Fabulous." Here eventual music video mocked fellow housewife frenemies and parodied Beyonce.

Moore might not be the best singer around, but she absolutely knows her brand and just how to make a lot of noise.

1 Ashley Darby

Ashley Darby on Potomac is a housewife that is pretty polarizing--especially given the fact that her husband, Michael Darby, is almost universally despised and considered one of the worst house-husbands out there.

While she doesn't seem to get a lot of freedom in her life, as it feels like he controls her with his money, it seems she was able to release a song which she debuted on the show. Unsurprisingly, this song was about her tumultuous relationship with her husband.
