In an industry with pay cuts and kickbacks galore, those who profit from being entertainers climb a steep hill to fame and fortune, but they can also fall twice as fast. When it comes to reality stars like the Vanderpump Rules gang and 90 Day Fiance alum, these cast members should worry about how fast they blow through their paychecks considering how quickly stardom can come and go.
Luckily, most of the Pumpers have separate side projects they can rely on in case the show somehow tanks. Here are ten ventures, companies, and side projects put together by the Vanderpump Rules cast.
10 Witches of WeHo Wine
When the power trio Stassi Schroeder, Katie Maloney-Schwartz (though the latter hyphened is questionable), and Kristen Doute, known as the 'Witches of WeHo,' decided to team up and create their own brand of wine together, everyone thought: what could go wrong?
Unfortunately, not long after the Witches of WeHo released their second line 'Basic Witch Potion No. 2,' the three self-proclaimed 'Witches' were at war, their relationship frazzled at the seams. As displayed throughout season 8 of Vanderpump Rules, Stassi and Katie lose interest in their wine collaboration after being harangued by Kristen about her rocky relationship with her live-in boyfriend at the time, Brian Carter. Their 'Potion No. 2' is still available for sale through the Nocking Point Wines website.
9 Stassi's Podcast: Straight Up With Stassi
Stassi Schroeder was the first amongst her VPR co-stars to start a podcast, and she's had great success ever since. Straight Up With Stassi, which began in 2015, has given the villainous blonde reality star a platform to express her opinions, which sometimes get her into trouble.
Stassi took things a step further in 2019 when she started touring Straight Up With Stassi: LIVE!, a special live podcast-themed show surrounding Stassi, her fiance Beau, and her longtime pal/fellow podcaster Taylor Strecker. They perform skits and sing karaoke with an added meet and greet for VIP ticketholders.
8 Scheana's Podcast: Scheananigans With Scheana Shay
Scheana Shay began her own podcast in 2018 called Scheananigans With Scheana Shay, where she interviews co-stars, other reality celebrities, and gives her take on all things Vandrpump Rules.
The podcast host has expressed her disdain for the lack of support and wrongful treatment from her co-stars on air. She's also called out production by rightfully pointing out how they've failed to cover several of her outlier endeavors while bringing cameras to newcomer Dayna Kathan's comedy show-- just episodes after her introduction.
7 Stassi's Book: Next Level Basic
Stassi Schroeder released her first novel Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook on April 26, 2019, and became an almost-overnight #1 New York Times Bestseller with praise and success from several communities.
However, Stassi's book hasn't been as well-received by the superfans in online communities like r/VanderpumpRules, where users have been sharing their overwhelming disdain for the so-called 'Basic Bitch Handbook.' As one Redditor, /u/lalaland554 puts it: "I bought it for a vacation read, and even then it was unreadable (even while sipping cocktails). It reads like it was written by a child. It was legitimately horrible."
6 Lala's Makeup Line: #GiveThemLala Beauty
Though it's failed to be mentioned on the show, Lala Kent has been developing her own beauty line, Give Them Lala, for quite some time. The Vandepump Rules star launched her makeup line in 2018, available through her website and Instagram.
Lala is currently engaged to hot-shot producer/prankster Randall Emmett, who is finally being featured on the show throughout season 8. The two planned to wed in April 2020 but postponed their nuptials due to coronavirus safety ordinations.
5 Jax & Lance Bass's Alcoholic Mixer: Just Add X
Although there hasn't been much mention of the entrepreneurial endeavors between Lance Bass and Jax Taylor on the show, the duo has teamed up on more than one occasion in sharing investments and partnering on business projects. That includes their beverage company Just Add X, a premium, high-quality mixer used to make cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages.
Although the Vanderpump Rules OG promoted his upcoming product on various podcasts last year, there's currently no way to purchase the product online, and their website fails to mention whether or not Just Add X has been featured in any stores or bars nationally.
4 Kristen's Fashion Line: James Mae
Kristen Doute began her vintage-inspired t-shirt line James Mae in 2018 and promises eco-friendly, sustainably-conscious garments created from recycled scraps. Cast members are frequently donning shirts from her line, which often feature a cutesy saying or inspirational quote.
Kristen's boho aesthetic is also displayed throughout her recently-purchased 100-year-old home, which required a lot of work put in to create the "boho chic sanctuary" the Vanderpump Rules star has always imagined.
3 Ariana & Tom's Book: Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes From A Couple Of Professional Drinkers
Longtime partners Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval teamed up alongside their podcasting friend Danny Pellegrino to release a cocktail book called Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes From A Couple Of Professional Drinkers in 2019.
The recipe book has received overwhelmingly positive reviews amongst fans and critics. It even includes nods to their castmates like naming one of their creations "The Bitter Ex" after Sandoval's ex-girlfriend and co-star, Kristen Doute.
2 Kristen Doute's Upcoming Book: He's Making You Crazy
In 2019, Kristen Doute announced her plans to release a book alongside co-author Michele Alexander, known for How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, chronicling her learning experiences through dating and breakups while giving advice on how someone else could better handle things, a glimpse into her self-deprecating yet self-aware attitude.
Doute will be releasing He's Making You Crazy: How To Get The Guy, Get Even, And Get Over It on June 2nd, 2020.
1 Scheana's YouTube Channel: Scheana Shay
It doesn't take a genius to recognize Scheana Shay as the show's court jester. Not only is she used by her castmates, but the "Good as Gold" singer is also toyed around by production, always put on display as the butt of all jokes yet somehow never seems being featured in a positive or supportive light, despite her various exciting ventures!
Scheana began her YouTube channel, appropriately titled Scheana Shay, at the beginning of 2020 as a way to show herself in a more raw, realistic portrayal. The reality star has spoken out about being disappointed with her edit on Vanderpump Rules, and how little exposure she gets for her various projects like starring in Sex Tips For a Straight Woman From a Gay Man in Las Vegas for six months straight! In fact, Scheana's mom Erika recently spoke out on her daughter's behalf, "annoyed" with Scheana's edit throughout her time on Vanderpump Rules.
