What To Expect From Ramy Season 3 | Screen Rant

Will Hulu move forward with Ramy season 3? Centered on an American Muslim man trying to find his place in the world, the dramedy series debuted its first season in April 2019, and co-creator and star Ramy Youssef won a Golden Globe Award for his lead performance.

In Ramy's second season, the title character seeks guidance from Sheikh Ali Malik (Mahershala Ali). Ramy initially finds peace of mind and helps a military veteran in need; however, a violent altercation forces him to think more carefully about the bigger picture. At the season progresses, Ramy forms a relationship with Zainab (Maameyaa Boafo) - the daughter of the Sheikh - but hasn't fully processed the romantic feelings that he still holds for Amani (Rosaline Elbay), his Egyptian cousin.

The penultimate episode of Ramy season 2 focuses entirely on the romantic woes of Ramy's Uncle Naseem (Laith Nakli), who hasn't quite accepted his sexuality. In the season finale, Ramy prepares for marriage and learns that his beloved Amani will be traveling to New Jersey from Cairo for the ceremony, which results in some major personal conflict for the series' protagonist. Here's everything we expect for Ramy season 3.

Hulu hasn't officially greenlit Ramy season 3, but a renewal seems highly probable. The series has received glowing reviews, and Youssef's lead performance has been widely praised. In general, streaming services usually analyze viewing numbers for three to six weeks after new seasons release. In this case, however, expect Hulu to order Ramy season 3 around the first day of summer, June 20, 2020.

Assuming that the entertainment industry will resume regular operations later in 2020, then new Ramy episodes can be filmed and produced sooner than later. At this point, it's unclear if Hulu will keep the same production schedule. But if they do, then streamers can expect Ramy season 3 to release in June 2021.

In the Ramy season 2 finale, Amani arrives from Egypt and initially plays it cool. In fact, Ramy's marriage goes as planned, and he enjoys some quiet time together with his new wife. But then Ramy implies that he'd like to have just "one more wife" and cites Western marital traditions as "corporate brainwashing." Naturally, the news doesn't go over well with Zainab, especially when she learns that her new husband had a sexual relationship with his cousin. Ramy wakes up to find Sheikh Ali waiting to confront him, and he loses the support of his Muslim mentor.

For Ramy season 3, Youssef's character will need to do some soul-searching before committing to a romantic relationship. The second installment ends with the revelation that Amani's brother Shadi (Shadi Alfons) has feelings for Ramy's sister Dena (May Calamawy), which precedes an awkward conversation between Ramy and Amani. Given the final sequence of Ramy season 2, in which the title character sits in a dirty vehicle with a dog and listens to "How to Be a Muslim," it seems that Ramy season 3 on Hulu will be thematically focused on Ramy living a more clean lifestyle and being more respectful of the world around him.
