Game Of Thrones: 10 Ways Jaime Got Worse & Worse | ScreenRant

One of the most complicated characters in Game Of Thrones, Jaime Lannister is also the one character who has developed and grown the most. He has made a sharp U turn from the man he once was – ruthless, selfish, cruel, and brutal to the later sincere and (somewhat) just man. He has the most powerful, strong, and believable character arc in the series.

However, on many occasions, when it looked like Jaime had changed and matured, he seemed to go back to what he was. This makes him a wonderful character for us, but unfortunately, not so much for the Starks! Here, we shall tell you about the ten times Jaime got worse than before.

10 The One Who Led To The Lannisters' Fall

Tywin loved Jaime much more than his other children and wanted him to wear the crown and be the rightful Lannister king. But, Jaime wanted to be with Cersei so much so that he was ready to be a loyal servant and bodyguard of the Mad king and/or Robert. He renounced all of his inheritance, land and crown for Cersei.

Jaime is one of the most important factors which led to Lannisters’ ultimate fall.

9 Envious Of Ned Stark

Despite being the most famous Kingslayer and having devilishly handsome looks (by far the most handsome out of all the GOT characters), Jaime was always envious and competitive with Ned Stark for some reasons he only knew. In the first season and the first episode, Jaime kept challenging Ned every now and then for tournaments and what not. He also disrespected Ned several times, which Ned obviously let slide gracefully.

8 Pushing Bran Off The Wall

The very first episode of the first season of GOT is quite bold in its approach for it introduced us to Robert, his troop, the family dynamics and the Jaime/Cersei incestuous relationship all in the first episode.

In a particular scene, Jaime and Cersei were making love when Bran, who loved to climb and crawl on walls, sees them amidst the scandal. A fear stricken Jaime pushes him off the window, in an unsuccessful attempt to kill the child. This was a foreshadow of his much worse deeds to come.

7 Proposition To Finish Bran Off

Shortly after Jaime got the news that Bran survived the fall and is still alive, he got more anxious due to obvious reasons. He wanted the incest to be secret. While discussing with Tyrion as to how the matter should be handled, Jaime suggested they should kill Bran off once and for all, to put him out of his misery. Jaime hid his actual intentions very deviously under the garb of act of kindness.

6 Jaime Killed Ned's Men

In the fifth episode of the first season, when Catelyn had arrested Tyrion Lannister and put him in Starks' custody, Jaime arrested Eddard/Ned too. Ned tried to dodge it by reminding him of his brother Tyrion's status and warned him that Tyrion would die if Jaime harmed him. To this, Jaime just ordered his men to slaughter all the men of Ned. He stabbed one of Ned's loyal men himself, in the eye.

5 Abused Catelyn

Shortly after the death of Robert and Eddard Stark, just when the river lords and the Northmen declare Robb Stark as the King of the North, Catelyn visits Jaime in his cell, where the Starks have captured him.

Jaime leaves no stones unturned in taunting and abusing Catelyn. He even admits to the attempted murder of her son Bran and offers her an intercourse since she is widowed and might not be getting any action.

4 The Tragic Fate Of Alton Lannister

In the seventh episode of the second season, Jaime killed his cousin Alton Lannister to escape from the heavily guarded Stark prison. In his defense, Jaime had already planned this escape route and had it been anyone else in place of Ser Alton Lannister, Jaime would have killed him too, in a beat. Sadly for Alton, it was him. Jaime had never gotten a chance to bond with him ever, but, whichever way you spell, it’s still a murder of a kin.

3 Murder Of Torrhen Karstark

After the Battle of the Whispering Woods, when Jaime is captured and jailed in his guarded prison, he plans an elaborate escape, which obviously has just one step — cold murder of anyone who comes in the way.

Apart from Alton Lannister, Jaime also murdered Torrhen Karstark, who was guarding his cell and happened to be one of the Starks' bannermen.

2 Making Love Near The Dead Body Of Their Son

The third episode of the fourth season takes Jaime's ruthlessness to several notches higher. In one of the most disturbing scenes ever of the Television history, Jaime forces himself on his sister Cersei and rapes her near the dead body of their son Joffrey (who was illegitimately born out of incest) in the church. Towards the end of the scenes, Cersei gives in too. This scene received tremendous universal outrage.

1 Edmure Tully's Infant Child

In the sixth season, Jaime Lannister threatened Edmure Tully to rush the siege and surrender during the second siege of Riverrun. He did so because it seemed to be the only way to reunite with the love of his life, Cersei Lannister. What’s most disturbing is he threatened Edmure that if they don’t surrender fast enough, Jaime would capture and catapult his infant son to the walls of the castle. Knowing Jaime, he is entirely capable of such cruelty, but, this is the arguably the most disturbing thing he has proposed in the series.
