A Disney Instagram filter proved extremely popular earlier in 2020, and for those that want to, the same filter can be used to create a TikTok video. Although Instagram and TikTok are completely different apps and services, taking the effect from one and using it on the other is surprisingly easy.
2020 has been a good year for Instagram filters so far, and especially for the ‘spin the wheel’ variety, often referred to as ‘which one are you’ or ‘who are you’ filters. While there are many of these ‘who are you’ filters to choose from now, the ‘Which Disney’ Instagram filter proved particularly popular in the opening months of the year. Not only did it arrive while the Disney+ streaming service hype was in full effect, but with the ability to land on any one of the many popular Disney characters, the filter instantly proved to be a hit on Instagram.
The thing with Instagram filters is that they are designed for use on Instagram and technically, there’s no real way to take just the filter from Instagram and use it in a TikTok video. However, the videos created with the Instagram app can very easily be uploaded to TikTok, which makes the process of using the Disney filter extremely easy. That is, as long as the TikTokker also has access to an Instagram account and the app is downloaded on a smartphone.
The actual Disney Instagram filter was created by Arno Partissimo. To access the filter, open the Instagram app and search for Partissimo’s profile by name. Once found and on the profile page, tap the smiley face icon to access the various filters and effects created by Partissimo. Then, search the list for the “Which Disney?” filter and tap it to launch Partissimo's original Instagram video. At the bottom of the screen there is a "Try It" button and tapping this launches the app’s camera interface and allows the user to create their own video using the same Disney filter.
Once the video has been recorded, the user can either opt to share it to their Instagram Story or skip Instagram altogether by tapping on the download icon at the top of the screen. This will save the video file to the phone's internal storage and from then on, it is simply a matter of switching to the TikTok app, and uploading the saved Instagram video. Before sharing it with others, the TikTok uploading process still allows the user to make any last-minute tweaks, including adding music or using any of the other TikTok video features.
