One of the best science fiction series on Netflix right now, Dark, is a German original that has taken the world by storm, thanks to its mind-boggling storyline. Based on time travel, the show starts in a small German town called Winden, but then it sets a course for a breathtaking ride into the past, future, and present.

As always, there are some characters in the series who use time travel for evil means, while there are some who the viewers can't help but root for. Without further ado, let's take a look at the five most likable characters from Dark and five fans can't stand.

10 Like: Ulrich Nielsen

Ulrich is someone who has gone through a lot. First, he loses his brother, who disappeared without a trace in 1986, and in 2019, he lost his son, Mikkel, in a similar fashion. So, in order to find some answers, he walks through the time portal in Winden and finds himself in 1953.

While he takes some time to contemplate things, his brain starts working and he decides to do a horrible thing, without knowing that this action of his is what keeps the cycle going. All in all, Ulrich is just a worried father, who can do anything for his son.

9 Can't Stand: Claudia Tiedemann

Claudia is first introduced as one of the top officials of the Winden Nuclear Plant in 1986 and while she seems to be a good woman at the start, the future isn't kind to her.

Her future self is loathsome, as she strolls around into the past and future, trying to keep everything flowing. She did whatever it takes, quite literally, as she murdered her father Egon in cold blood, just to protect the time travel secret.

8 Like: Egon Tiedemann

As Claudia used to say - "Egon is too good for this cruel world." A good cop by heart, the viewers get to see every bit of Egon, from his days as a young police officer to the point when he is on the verge of retiring.

While he always wanted to do what's right, he never really understood what was going around in his town. His own daughter betrayed him, which is one of the saddest things about the series.

7 Can't Stand: Helge Doppler

Ever since he was a kid, Helge had the problem of falling in with the wrong crowd but he wasn't to be blamed for that. It's the acts he did for Noah that makes him one of the most hated characters in the series.

He was easily manipulated into doing the bidding for a devil and he even played a part in the murder of Mads Nielson, Ulrich's brother. Even though he doesn't admit it, he was an important part of the Sic Mundus.

6 Like: Martha Nielsen

Ulrich and Katharina's daughter, Martha is a very sweet girl, who comes across as a mature human being. She suffers from a problem any teenager does - struggling to decide what she really wants.

She falls in love with Jonas and when he disappears without a trace, it takes a toll on her. The viewers feel for her, as she not only loses her brother, but also the love of her life.

5 Can't Stand: Hannah Kahnwald

Jonas' mother, Hannah is the exact opposite of her child. She is manipulative and can do anything to get what she wants. One can even say she shows sociopathic tendencies, thanks to her obsession with Ulrich. It's like none of what she had with Michael (her husband) and Jonas even mattered to her.

4 Like: Charlotte Doppler

Charlotte, the head of the police force in Winden is quite easily the most fascinating character in the series. In the beginning, it seems like she doesn't have much of a role to play in these supernatural events but as we move on, it becomes clearer that she is one of the central characters around whom this time cycle extravaganza revolves.

She is a mother of two and whatever she does, it is to protect her loved ones. Charlotte is the daughter of Noah and both of them share completely different characteristics.

3 Can't Stand: Adam

Jonas Kahnwald, 99 years into the future, becomes Adam, who is the founder of the Sic Mundus Creatus Est. He is the one who makes sure everything in a particular time cycle repeats itself so that nothing deviates from what originally happened and thus, no alternate branch of reality comes into existence.

But, in trying to do that, he commits or helps commit horrible crimes. For one, he kills Martha and that alone makes him unpleasant.

2 Like: Jonas Kahnwald

Jonas is the closest thing this series has to a protagonist. He is at the heart of everything that's going wrong in Winden and even though he didn't ask for any of it, he has to play a role to set things right.

While at first, he sets out to achieve the target of changing the future, soon, he realizes that the game is bigger than him. His chemistry with Martha is breathtakingly beautiful but what can you say, they just aren't meant to be together.

1 Can't Stand: Noah

The very first villainous figure in the series, Noah is a member of the Sic Mundus and he works for Adam. He is manipulated by his boss to his bidding and that means, he commits some horrendous acts of violence in God's name.

He destroys Helge's life and of countless others just to keep the time cycle flowing in the right direction. And for what? That's what he was wondering when he came to the conclusion that Adam used him.
