New Girl: The 10 Worst Things Secondary Characters Did

While the sitcom New Girl was centered around the five main characters – Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Winston, and Cece – there were secondary characters who appeared throughout the series.

Some only showed up on occasion, others had pretty lengthy arcs. In fact, even Prince was on an episode of the show, requesting to be on because he was a big fan. Whoever they were, each secondary character made an impact one way or another. So what are the worst things some of them did? Here's a rundown.

10 Joan Day: Held a Grudge

Played by the incomparable Jamie Lee Curtis, Joan was Jess' mother who surprised her daughter by revealing that, even though she and her father had been divorced for some time, they still met up on occasion to sleep together. And let's not forget that time she got high and curled up in the fetal position!

But arguably the worst thing she did was never truly accept Jess's best friend Cece. She held a grudge for years after Cece wrecked her car, and admitted outright that she didn't like her and felt she was a bad influence.

9 Injured Schmidt: Nadia

After not being able to get things going with Cece, Schmidt dated her roommate, a model from Russia named Nadia. She was odd and shallow, once calling Schmidt Mickey Mouse because he ate some cheese and said Jess looked like a monkey from a Russian cracker commercial.

But her worst act was accidentally (or was it?) breaking Schmidt's, er, private member when they tried to sleep together. Ouch!

8 Mr. Furguson: Ran Away

Mr. Furguson was Winston's cat. Actually, technically his ex's cat, but after discovering she was cheating on him, Winston took the cat and left. He then became oddly too close to the feline pet.

But when he left Nick to care for Mr. Furguson when he went out, Nick didn’t do a very good job (surprise, surprise) and Mr. Furguson ran away. Turns out it was just to a neighboring apartment. Nonetheless, how could Mr. Furguson terrify Winston like that?!

7 Kyle: Being A Jerk

The model who casually dated Cece, he was just, in general, a jerk. He was self-absorbed and obsessed with looks. He wasn't really fun to hang out with and took every effort to make Schmidt jealous, any chance he got.

During a Christmas party at Schmidt's office, Cece came to the realization that Kyle might be pretty, but he was a jerk. And Schmidt was really the one for her.

6 Reagan: Unable To Express Feelings To Nick

In some ways, Reagan was like a female version of Nick, unable to truly express her emotions or give in to the idea of being tied down to one person. This hurt Nick in a lot of ways, even though it was obvious that he should be with Jess anyway.

Her focus on her career and inability to talk through issues with Nick led to their break-up and wasted time when Nick could have been with Jess instead.

5 Sam: Adopted A Fake Persona

After being hurt by Jess, Sam decided to take on a new persona and be someone he wasn't in an effort to find love. He ended up with a free-spirited woman who was clearly not right for him.

While him breaking up with Jess was totally understandable since it was clear that she was meant to be with Nick, it was also a bit hurtful when he revealed that he was actually in love with someone else anyway – his former colleague from med school.

4 Robby: Stalked Cece

Robby joined Schmidt in stalking Cece, who dated both of them quite seriously at different times and who clearly made an impression on both of them. The consummate nice guy, he couldn't seem to get over his feelings for Cece, and oddly, both he and Schmidt bonded over this fact.

They ended up conspiring together to try and get her back, barging in as Cece's parents were introducing her to potential suitors at a meet-and-greet event.

3 Abby: Dated Schmidt

Abby, Jess's drifting troublemaking sister, showed up out of nowhere and caused trouble in Jess's life. Including, at one point, sleeping with Schmidt and then all of a sudden moving in with him in the apartment across the hall.

She and Schmidt started dating despite Jess's objections until Abby finally did what she does best and picked up and left abruptly to go back to Oregon to live with their mom.

2 Bob Day: Threatened Nick

Jess's overprotective father, played by Rob Reiner, had always had it out for Nick. Like any father, he didn't believe the young man was good enough for his daughter. But he took things pretty far to express his despise before eventually accepting Nick as his son-in-law.

When Nick revealed to Bob that he was in love with Jess, he chased him around the loft threatening to kill him. Deep down, however, it is revealed that the reason Bob had it out so badly for Nick was that he reminded him of himself at that age.

1 Daisy: Cheated On Winston

Winston dated Daisy for a short while and he thought everything was going great. Even when she tricked him by wearing an engagement ring to pretend that she wasn't single.

But then after they started up a relationship that was seemingly going well, Winston caught her cheating. He got so upset, he stole her cat and left, telling her that he deserved someone better and so did the cat!
