Shameless: 10 Things Fans Need To See In The Final Season

The Gallaghers are set to embark on their 11th and last season of shenanigans this year and fans have a lot they need to see in the final season of Shameless. The last 10 seasons have left fans with a couple of questions that they hope to see answered in the final episodes of the show.

There have also been a lot of fan-favorite characters whose return would excite many fans. If these things are seen in the final season, it would be a truly satisfying conclusion to the journey fans have had thus far. There is sure to be many more, but here are the top ten things fans want to see happen before they say goodbye to Shameless.

10 Find Out What Happened to Ethel And Bonnie

Shameless has a habit of introducing likable guest roles only to have them disappear after the fans fall in love with them. Two of the most notable cases of this are with Ethel, Kevins, and Veronica's Foster child from the first two seasons, and Bonnie, Carl's homeless girlfriend from Season 4. Ethel was last seen running off with fellow teen-parent, Malik, and their respectable children, along with a big bag of Kevin's marijuana, presumably to sell.

As for Bonnie, Carl notices that she is missing when he goes to greet her one morning and her van is gone from its usual parking lot and it appears as if a scuffle had occurred. We never find out more about either of these ladies but maybe season 11 will fill fans in on their whereabouts.

9 An Appearance From Shelia and Karen

Karen was the character you loved to hate while her mother Shelia was someone fans just couldn't help but love. Karen left after suffering brain damage from being hit by a car in season 3 (thank you Mandy) and Shelia left in season 5 to travel.

After the accident, Jody informed everyone in season 3 that the short term memory loss and short vocabulary might be temporary so she could very well be a different person now. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to believe Shelia's travels would eventually bring her back to her hometown for a visit, daughter, and grandson, Hymie, in tow.

8 Fiona With Jimmy

We already know that Emmy Rossum has signed on to appear as Fiona in the Shameless final season but what would really be a great thing to see is that she ended up with Jimmy (Steve). Out of all of Fiona's relationships, he was the one she had the most chemistry with, and after everything she has gone through she would look at him a little differently now.

She has made a lot of mistakes since she last saw him so one could hope that she would have a different perspective and be willing to forgive him for his previous actions. He truly did love her for herself and it would satisfy many fans to see them end up together, just like they did in the UK version.

7 A Gallavich Family Business

Fans already saw one of their dreams come true last season when they saw the official union of Gallavich, but it would be truly satisfying to see the newlyweds start-up a Gallavich family business.

It's easy to imagine the two refurbishing an abandoned ambulance and taking care of the disadvantaged people of Chicago, maybe continuing on the progress of Veronica and Kevin's guerilla-style medic on wheels. Or maybe they can open up a youth center together and continue Ian's mission he started with the Gay Jesus movement. Either way, these two would make a great team in and out of the bedroom.

6 Kevin and Veronica Officially Tieing the Knot

In the season 10 finale, Kevin asks Veronica to marry him, officially. The two faked a wedding in season 1 after finding out Veronica's father left her a dowry. But the two haven't been able to officially tie the knot for one reason: Kevin is already married.

It seems highly likely we will see the two get married in the final season but it will be entertaining to see the return of Kevin's crazy ex and the guaranteed antics that will come along with trying to convince her to divorce Kevin.

5 Liam Accepting Who He Is

We finally see Liam come to terms with his identity at the end of Season 10, but it would be interesting to see how this changes his character going into adolescence and the next season.

Fans would love to see Liam embrace his Gallagher side a little more but also remain true to the morally driven character he's become. He's due for high school soon so hopefully, the new and final season will feature Liam in his newfound confidence tackling the hallways of high school.

4 Carl In Law Enforcement

Season 10 might have given Carl the end to his military dream but he seems to have discovered a new path. After Carl witnessed the horrible attack on an elderly lady at a bus stop he becomes motivated to make a change in the community but his journey to get there leads him to an interesting opportunity. Carl seemed to thoroughly enjoy whipping the teenagers in the youth cop training program into shape.

And even though he was deemed unfit for this position it led to his relationship with the unscrupulous police chief. At the end of Season 10, Carl seemed on his way to serving in law enforcement in some way or another which is ironic considering his sordid past with the law.

3 A Fitting End For Frank

Frank has been nothing but a pain to those around him and he is the living definition of the word Shameless. Just when you think he has a heart he goes and does something to prove that he's always in it for himself. It's too late for this old dog to change so there seems to be only one way to go for Frank's ending.

Many fans would love to see the unrepentant swindler die in a fitting way. Another ending for the unreformable drunk would be if he suffered amnesia and forgot what a terrible person he was. Of course, a third possible option is that Frank wins like he always does. But if this is the ending fans get for Frank it better involves the lovable Mickey O'Shea.

2 Lip Doing Something With His Intelligence

Lip is the most intelligent of the Gallaghers by far and had the most opportunity to excel and go further than any other member of the household. But due to some very un-smart decisions, he messed up his chance at a college education.

Since then, the show has not shown Lip doing much with his intelligence besides using his mechanic skills at Brad's shop. But fans of Lip would find it more satisfying to see him use his brain for something meaningful, either finding a way to go back to school and be an educator like Professor Youens or maybe he would take over the shop for Brad and turn it into a huge success.

1 Debbie Finally Settling Down

Debbie has taken on the role of Head of Household in Fiona's departure but she still has a lot of growing up to do. As she seems to be the only one of adult Gallaghers who has yet to have a long term serious relationship (at least authentically), it would be refreshing to see her find a partner that causes her to settle down.

Sandy Milkovich might be a good option as she has been there for Debbie in the last season and she would be sure to call Debbie out when she's being overdramatic. And who doesn't want another Gallovich couple?
