The Real Housewives Of Atlanta: 5 Reasons NeNe Is The Show's Biggest Villain (& 5 Reasons It's Kenya)

The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast is full of big personalities. Whether they are sipping tea or throwing shade, these ladies make RHOA one of the franchise's consistently entertaining installments. Every show needs a villain, and while all the Atlanta ladies have engaged in some bad behavior, arguably the two most volatile and controversial stars are Kenya Moore and NeNe Leakes.

Love them, hate them or love to hate them, Kenya and NeNe never hesitate to stir the pot, hit below the belt and steal the spotlight from their co-stars. Does OG NeNe hold the title for meanest peach, or should Kenya win the crown? Only fans can decide.

10 NeNe: She's A Bully

All of the cast members of every Real Housewives franchise argue. These dramatic throwdowns are part of the show's appeal. NeNe herself has been a victim of physical abuse in the past, but that hasn't stopped her from letting her anger get the best of her. In 2009, Kim filed a police report claiming NeNe choked her during an altercation. The twosome came close to exchanging blows again during season 3 after NeNe accused Kim of treating her assistant like a "slave," accusing Kim of racism.

Season 11, NeNe turned on cameramen as well as pregnant castmate Porsha Williams when they entered her closet. NeNe is an imposing presence, and she uses physical intimidation time and time again when conflict arises. During the season 12 cast vacation to Greece, NeNe spit at co-star Kenya Moore.

9 Kenya: She Flirted With Phaedra's Husband

On a group trip to Anguilla, Kenya flirted with Phaedra Park's husband Apollo Nida. Despite Phaedra telling Kenya to back off, she continued to text Apollo -- behavior that was considered inappropriate by the rest of the cast and viewers. This led to Apollo insisting Kenya offered to engage in oral sex.

Even though she denied this, Kenya continued to disrespect Phaedra's boundaries and her marriage during a group trip to Mexico. Phaedra began referring to Kenya as a "whore," and held her accountable in some part for her split with Apollo during season 7. Fans couldn't help but notice the sparks between these two, but in Kenya's defense, Apollo did admit to lying about Kenya's offer of sexual favors at the start of season 7, but there's no doubt Kenya crossed the line with the Southern belle.

8 NeNe: She Turns On All Her Friends

While alliances on the RHOA are constantly shifting, NeNe is constantly at odds with her nearest and dearest. Kim Zolciak-Biermann and NeNe were long-time friends before the show aired but argued constantly throughout Kim's five-season tenure. They disagreed over everything from shady confessional comments to racist accusations to various snubs.

After NeNe called former bestie Cynthia Bailey's husband a "b**ch," during season 6, their friendship ended on a nasty note. The two reconnected, but the tenuous bond snapped again after the season 11 finale. After bonding with "friend" Marlo Hampton, NeNe cut off contact with fellow "Tall" Marlo (who has been an on and off "friend" of the ladies) when Marlo began spending time with NeNe's nemesis, Kenya Moore. NeNe constantly makes up -- likely to remain employed -- but inevitably falls out with her ride-or-dies, proving she's untrustworthy and a fairweather friend.

7 Kenya: She Tries To Provoke Physical Altercations

Kenya is very vocal about cast members not putting their hands on each other, but she goes out of her way to push them into reacting with physicality. During the season 6 reunion, Kenya used a megaphone and scepter to antagonize Porsha Williams, and despite Williams' multiple warnings, Kenya didn't stop until Williams grabbed her by her hair and dragged her off the stage.

During the infamous season 6 "Pillow Fight," it was Kenya who charged towards a woman, triggering a brawl involving the woman's husband, Kenya's friend Brandon, Peter Thomas, and Apollo Nida. After Porsha Williams began anger management classes, Kenya put her to the test season 9, following Porsha to her car as she attempts to remove herself from a volatile situation. Kenya pushes her castmates to a breaking point either to get them removed from the show, for potential monetary gain, or to garner sympathy for herself.

6 NeNe: She's A Diva

Fame has gone to NeNe's head. After a recurring guest spot on Glee, a role on the short-lived Ryan Murphy series The New Normal and appearing on Celebrity Apprentice, NeNe's ego went off the rails. She referred to herself as a "rich b**ch," she walked off the season 12 reunion when confronted about her bad behavior, she's refused to film with certain cast members, and she's jealous when the other women find success either personally or professionally.

NeNe threw shade at Kandi Burruss' musical "A Mother's Love," she didn't offer any congratulations when Kandi won The Masked Singer, she's keeping a tally of spinoffs, she was salty over Kim's successful single. NeNe doesn't support the women in their endeavors be they charitable or otherwise. It's NeNe's world, and everyone else is just living in it.

5 Kenya: She Accused Phaedra Of Adultery

After being called a whore and slut-shamed by Phaedra Parks for years, Kenya found an opportunity to exact revenge during season 7. Armed with intel obtained from a shady game of telephone initiated by Apollo, Kenya accused Phaedra of having an affair in front of all the ladies during what is supposed to be a civilized dinner.

Phaedra was trying to adjust to raising two small boys on her own, her husband's crazy behavior and subsequent incarceration and tons of public scrutiny. Kenya didn't know what is what, and if she was concerned about karma, Phaedra's dire circumstances indicated what goes around does come around. There was no reason for Kenya to rub salt in Phaedra's wounds.

4 NeNe: She Can Be A Bigot

During a dust-up with one season wonder Claudia Jordan on a girls' trip to Puerto Rico during the show's seventh outing, NeNe refers to Claudia as a half-breed. NeNe also displayed some homophobic behavior after season 6's infamous "Pillow Fight" incident.

When recounting the events of the group event turned brawl, NeNe referred to Kenya's friend Brandon as a "queen," and not in a playful "Yaass, Queen" kind of way. Her derogatory tone was noted not just by viewers but by Housewives wrangler and reunion host Andy Cohen as well. NeNe's response? Sorry, not sorry.

3 Kenya: She Blindsided Tanya

Don't come for Kenya unless she sends for you. When Tanya Sam refutes Kenya's claim that her hair is all-natural, the self-proclaimed "shade assassin" claps back. At a peace summit, aka "girls' lunch," arranged by Cynthia, Kenya brings a surprise guest -- the "Cookie Lady."

A woman who sells tasty delights, and whom Tanya's husband Paul has supposedly been pursuing as a possible side piece. Now that is a low down dirty shame. Tanya is forced to come face to face with the other woman. This is a disproportionate response on Kenya's part who always manages to insert herself into other couples' business.

2 NeNe: She Tried To Get Cynthia Fired

It's no secret the remaining original cast member of RHOA considers herself to be the star of the show. NeNe's enjoyed moderate success outside the franchise, but nothing with the reach or staying power as the show that launched her into B-list stardom.

NeNe stated, on an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2014, that her former gal pal should be fired, claiming she wasn't "bringing anything to the show." That's sinking to a whole new low messing with someone's bank account.

1 Kenya: She Stole Phaedra's Business Idea

When Phaedra decides to do a workout video showcasing her "donkey booty" during season 5, she enlists Kenya's help. Things fall apart because greed isn't good, and Kenya decides to put out a video with her own spin.

Kenya claimed to have a successful production company and a resume to rival any A-lister, so why be a copycat? It's just pettiness and a chance for Kenya to show off her body and compare it to Phaedra's whose she deems as inferior.
