Those who use TikTok frequently might be wondering how they can make their own video using the popular ‘Where Is Your Soulmate’ filter. The process is actually a little different to some of the other popular TikTok videos doing the rounds, although it is also not that complicated. That is, as long as you also have the Instagram app downloaded and an account setup.
On Instagram, filters are an insanely popular feature. Some users create their own and once shared, they tend to be copied by others who upload their own video using the same filter. In this sense, Instagram filters work in a very similar way to how TikTok challenges and videos tend to go viral, with others taking a TikTok creator up on the challenge, using the same music or style, and uploading their own version of the same video.
The reason Instagram matters is that’s where the ‘Where Is My Soulmate’ filter actually originates from. Therefore, those looking to specifically upload their own soulmate video to TikTok will need to have access to Instagram as well. This is in addition to having the Android or iOS mobile app downloaded on a phone, as that will be needed to download the video and filter. Those without access to Instagram will find they run into issues, considering the filter is not directly available through TikTok
Providing the Instagram app is downloaded and the user is signed in, the filter can be found by using the search function to locate the Erika Sacks profile page. Sacks is the creator of the filter and once on the right page, all of Sacks' filters can be accessed by clicking on the smiley face icon. Once on the filter tab, scroll down until you see the filter - it’s actually called “Soulmate Radar.” Once the filter has been found, tap it to watch a video of how the filter works. From here, the user can then click on the “Try It” button and this will launch the device’s camera and provide a way for the user to test the feature out for themselves.
Recording a video and testing the feature is actually key to getting the video over to TikTok as you can’t actually download the filter itself. Instead, test the video by making an Instagram video - one you are happy to upload to TikTok - and once finished, there are two options. The first is to share the video to your Instagram Story and then download it from there. The other option is to download the video without sharing it to Instagram and this can be done by clicking on the download icon at the top of the screen.
Regardless of which route is taken, the video will be downloaded to the device’s local storage (providing you have enabled the 'save to storage' option in the Instagram app’s settings). From there, it is just a matter of uploading the same video to TikTok like you would any other, and of course, making any additional tweaks you might want, such as adding music.
