10 Best Quotes From True Lies | ScreenRant

Nineties actioner True Lies follows the lives of married couple Harry and Helen Tasker, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Harry's a secret agent but has neglected to tell his wife and daughter, until it all comes out in a way he definitely didn't plan on.

Helen is a bored housewife that loves her husband but craves excitement in her life, and when she gets caught up in Harry's work, she gets more than she bargained for. The husband-wife dynamics as well as Schwarzenegger's typical dry sense of humor provide plenty of great quotes to go along with the 1994 James Cameron film.

10 "I Know What This Is...This Is An Espresso Machine. No, No Wait. It's A Snow Cone Maker. Is It A Water Heater?"

Ever the joker, Harry stalls when he's asked to describe a nuclear weapon presented to him by one of the terrorists after he and his wife have been kidnapped. Considering he was in big trouble and wasn't showing much fear, Harry was pretty brave to stall and test the terrorists' patience. Unfortunately, they didn't have much, and they threatened Helen's life, prompting Harry to describe the nuclear weapon in great detail. His admission is what gets Helen to realize the truth: Harry's not who he said he was. She's understandably hurt and betrayed afterwards, though she does eventually come around.

9 "Oh Yeah, She's Got Her Head In The Guy's Lap All Right. Yahoo."

The helicopter pilot tracking Helen when she was in Simon's car may have inadvertently triggered Harry's mean streak with this quote. No doubt it instigated Harry's fury, and it only made things worse when he walked in on what looked like Simon and Helen all over one another.

The thing is, there was an innocent explanation behind it all, though Harry didn't know that until later. Gib tried to reassure Harry that perhaps Helen was merely sleepy, but Harry wasn't buying it. He definitely wasn't saying 'yahoo.'

8 "It's Just There's So Much I Want To Do With This Life And It Feels That I Haven't Done Any Of It..."

As Helen explains why she agreed to go with Simon on a whim, everything begins to make sense and any doubts about her faithfulness are erased. She loved Harry, she always has. She just wanted an adventure, to liven up her life and to do more with it. Even though Helen has no idea Harry and Gib are on the other side of the glass, it's still sweet because Harry understands her wants and needs and gives it to her. It does end up with the two of them in danger, but they become happier and closer because of it. Helen more than had her wish granted; good thing Harry understood and had the means to give her some adventure! Any audience that has felt the same as Helen can certainly relate, making this quote particularly memorable.

7 "You Know What? We're Gonna Catch Some Terrorists, We're Gonna Beat The Crap Out Of Them, You're Gonna Feel A Hell Of A Lot Better."

Leave it to Gib to know exactly what will cheer up Harry in his time of distress. The two of them are good friends and partners, and they're definitely good at their jobs. As Gib explains, whenever his life goes downhill, he focuses on work and advises Harry to do the same to release some aggression and stress.

Harry initially believes his beloved wife to be having an affair, and for him, the best way to feel better means saving the world and taking out some bad guys. It seems to improve Harry's mood and keeps him focused.

6 "What Kind Of Sick B**** Takes The Ice Cube Trays Out Of The Freezer!?"

While Gib (Tom Arnold) is recounting his woes with ex-wife number two to Harry, he mentions the above quote. Harry fears that his wife is cheating at this point in the film, and Gib doesn't exactly have perfect timing with his own experience; in fact, his story makes Harry feel worse. It's a sad story turned humorous the way Gib tells it--who does take the ice cube trays from the freezer? What good does that do, anyway? Only Gib's ex knows.

5 "Yeah, But They Were All Bad."

Harry is suffering the effects of a truth serum when Helen asks him if he's ever killed anyone, and this quote is his response. Yeah, he's killed a lot of people, but given the fact that they were all bad guys, it definitely makes Harry's killing justifiable. However, for Helen, a civilian who's still trying to grasp what her husband really does for a living, it's a lot to swallow.

Though after escaping certain death and helping her husband defeat terrorists, Helen was probably more inclined to agree with him by the film's conclusion.

4 "I Married Rambo!"

While Harry's busy taking out the bad guys, Helen trails behind, no doubt stunned by her husband's capabilities with combat and weapons as she utters this quote. She did indeed marry Rambo. Even funnier about this quote is the fact that Sylvester Stallone, who played Rambo, and Arnold Schwarzenegger were two of the biggest action stars at the time and have been known to be rivals. This quote could possibly be some kind of joke in that sense, but still, it's a great line.

3 "Like One? How 'Bout Two?"

Helen has some of her own moves when she takes on Juno in the back of the limo near the film's end. The two have a major girl fight that Helen wins by smashing Juno over the head, twice, with a champagne bottle. The quote above is what she exclaims as she does so.

Seems Helen has a trick or two up her own sleeve. At that point in time, she believed Harry to be dead, so that no doubt fueled Helen's anger and fight to defeat the people responsible. Helen was a fighter in her own right, and this unforgettable quote is proof of that.

2 "Fear Is Not An Option."

Fear is definitely not an option in Harry's line of work. Though, this quote is actually spoken originally by Simon (Bill Paxton), who tried to seduce Helen by pretending to be a covert agent, and said this line as part of his ploy. She later gets him back when she and Harry run into Simon, dressed as a waiter, while the two are undercover. She holds her lipstick and threatens to kill him, adding the infamous line above before Simon wets himself and runs away in fear. Turns out, it was only lipstick, not a weapon. Helen got her sweet, sweet vengeance.

1 "You're Fired."

This is pretty much Schwarzenegger's most-remembered line from True Lies, not unlike "I'll be back" from The TerminatorHe says it so dryly and directly, and paired with the fact that he actually fires the missile, which has the terrorist hanging precariously from it, at the other helicopter carrying terrorists, killing them all, is what makes the line so perfect for that moment. "You're fired" generally isn't something anyone wants to hear, but for the terrorists, "you're fired" carried another meaning entirely, as obviously it was much more brutal and deadly. This quote is among the many reasons why audiences love Arnold Schwarzenegger as much as they do.
