Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V has been a rolling ball of success since its initial release in 2013. With a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version on the horizon, the game shows no signs of slowing down. While Grand Theft Auto Online is the main reason for its longevity, one cannot forget the expansive single-player campaign.
The story mode is so huge, many players missed the following quests listed below. Some of them are traditional missions, while others are more subtle feats required for one hundred percent completion. Hopefully Rockstar Games adds more hidden missions in the next-gen version in addition to graphical enhancements.
10 Flying Under Bridges
Flight never felt better in a Grand Theft Auto game than it does while soaring the Los Santos skies. Some players may have inadvertently taken a plane or helicopter underneath a bridge and noticed a counter ticking up. There are fifty of these in all located in the city. Fortunately, players only have to fly under half of these for one hundred percent completion.
9 "Mrs. Philips"
Trevor Philips is an absolute madman, and a hidden mission unlocked after completing the main story may explain part of the reason for his emotional instability. Going to his trailer after the last story mission sees the character run into his mother, who berates him and forces him to steal a pharmaceutical truck. Trevor does the favor only to find his mother gone upon his return as he falls to the floor a weeping mess.
8 Stunt Jumps
Despite the changes the series has gone through, some staples from the PlayStation 2 trilogy still make an appearance in the modern, more realistic titles. Fifty opportunities exist throughout Los Santos for the player to launch their vehicle and achieve big air while the game goes into slow motion. Like flying under the bridges, one only has to do half of them in order to cross it off the one- hundred-percent-completion checklist.
7 The Epsilon Program
By answering a short survey on their website as Michael, the player initiates a series of ten missions where they go through the steps of joining the Epsilon Program, a popular cult within the GTA universe. The final mission in the arc presents Michael with a choice to either deliver a truck filled with over two million dollars or take the money for himself. Siding with the cult offers little in the way of rewards, however.
6 Saving Patrick McReary
While few direct connections exist between GTA V and its predecessor, Patrick McReary is one of the few characters who appears in both.
But he only exists if the player chooses to help out a group of robbers find a getaway car. Alternatively, the player can also shoot the robbers and help out the store owner. If they choose the former, Patrick becomes a hired gun who can be used in heists. Patrick recently returned once again in Grand Theft Auto Online.
5 The Altruist Cult
The Altruist Cult lives up in the mountains and they first show up on Trevor's radar after Ron sends him a text. The most unhinged of the three protagonists can deliver random strangers they pick up on the side of road to the cult, where they become the group's dinner. After doing this four times, they try to kidnap Trevor, who then fights his way out of the camp while collecting piles of cash scattered throughout the area.
4 Spaceship Parts
It would not be Grand Theft Auto without a series of collectibles. Mysterious spaceship parts are hidden throughout the large maps. Fifty exist in all, and finding the all of them triggers "The Final Frontier" mission, which is just a cutscene where a stranger rewards Franklin with a special vehicle. The Space Docker is a dune buggy with a unique science fiction aesthetic.
3 "The Last One"
This mission calls back to an urban legend within Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The Sasquatch Hunter only appears to give the mission after achieving one hundred percent completion, which is no small feat on its own. After helping the strange fellow hunt the mythical Sasquatch, Franklin learns that it is simply a man in a costume who gets off running around the woods as the creature.
2 Rampages
Rampages still exist in the game, but they are not floating icons players run into like in the older titles. As Trevor, they are strangers who irritate or antagonize the protagonist through any number of means, including making fun of his Canadian accent.
The player gains increased damage and defense on a Rampage. Though they start with a cutscene, players find them by locating a special skull-shaped icon on the map.
1 Leonora Johnson
Another set of collectibles sees the player find fifty pieces of scrap which make up a letter detailing a woman's murder. Finding them all leads Franklin to Peter Dreyfuss meditating at his house, initiating the mission "A Starlet in Vinewood." Franklin can let the murderer go or take him out. The game is not about abiding by a traditional moral code, but such a murderer does not deserve to go free even in the demented world of Grand Theft Auto.
