Big Brother 22: Fans Think Josh & Kaycee Have COVID-19, Stalling Season

As rumors continue to swirl across the Internet regarding who's in and who's out of the upcoming Big Brother: All Stars, a video from June of Josh Martinez - winner of Big Brother 19 - has brought the rumor mill to a screeching halt. In the video, Martinez, whose name had been heavily attached to the various cast leaks, seems to have been partying in Miami, causing fans to now speculate that he's contracted COVID-19 as a result. To make matters worse for CBS and fans alike, similar rumors have surfaced that Big Brother 20 winner Kaycee Clark may be dealing with COVID-19 as well.

Josh and Kaycee were expected to be two of the more high-profile names this season, particularly due to their recent success on MTV's The Challenge, but their disregard for COVID-19 seems to have jeopardized their participation in Big Brother's 22nd season altogether. Fans were already skeptical of Kaycee's attitude towards COVID-19 when, earlier in the quarantine, she posted several stories to her Instagram expressing frustration with having to wear a mask outside, and even suggesting she didn't believe it was necessary to do so. While her social media was dormant for the past week or so, suggesting she was in quarantine prior to entering the Big Brother house, she has been posting once again, including videos of her running outside, still without a mask. Similarly, although his Instagram account is currently private, Josh has freely shared footage of him at various night clubs around the Miami area throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Big Brother fan base had already been speculating as to whether or not the cast had been impacted by COVID-19 in some capacity. Despite the fervor among the fanbase, however, CBS has remained silent. And with media outlets such as Soap Dirt confirming that two members of the All Stars cast had contracted COVID-19, it is becoming increasingly more likely that Josh and Kaycee are the culprits. Considering Florida has been a hotbed for COVID-19, and Josh was seen partying in the state's largest city without any social distancing, it is probable that he has tested positive. And because Kaycee has already shown her disregard for safety protocols relating to the global pandemic, she may very well be the other positive case.

If these rumors are indeed true, the impact on this season cannot be understated. Two of the most recent winners of the show, Josh and Kaycee's presence in the house was likely to impact everyone's game. On one hand, they could have emerged as early threats. On the other hand, they could have continued the success they had demonstrated previously in the Big Brother house. Of course, this is assuming that this season will even still happen. While CBS remains committed to an August 5th premiere, will it be so easy to replace two cast members on such short notice? Even if they did find replacements, those new houseguests would have to quarantine and test negative for COVID-19 prior to the start of the season.

While Kaycee remains a beloved winner, this rumor certainly puts a blemish on her reputation. In Josh's case, however, some fans might be relieved that he is not participating in this season. He was, after all, rather rude and outspoken throughout his time on Big Brother. With the premiere of Big Brother: All Stars just under a week away, only time will tell how the season's cast might come together.
