Rise of Skywalker: Force Ghosts Join Rey Against Palpatine in Fan Edit

Jedi Force ghosts join Rey in her fight against Palpatine in a cool Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker fan edit. The Rise of Skywalker acted as the ninth and final chapter of the Skywalker saga. Ultimately, the film's climax saw Rey facing off against Palpatine, with the aid of all the Jedi who came before her.

Ironically, the Skywalker saga really began and ended with Palpatine. Although powerful Jedi masters like Yoda sensed Palpatine might have been a Sith in the prequels, Palpatine still rose to power. One of his greatest acts of evil was persuading Anakin Skywalker to turn to the dark side. Palpatine's power still had repercussions even after his supposed death in Return of the JediAs Rey discovered to her horror in The Rise of Skywalker, not only was Palpatine behind the First Order, but he was also her grandfather. Their final showdown has a great moment where Rey hears the voices of Jedi past. With the aid of Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin to Luke Skywalker, Rey finds the strength to rise and finally defeat Palpatine once and for all.

A talented Star Wars fan named Jon H heightened the impact of Rey's, "And I am all the Jedi," scene. As Rey stands off against Palpatine and his Force lightning, the Force ghosts of Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Anakin Skywalker stand behind her, lending their strength. It's definitely an edit that packs an emotional wallop and improves the scene. Check out the cool fan-edit below:

One thing that could have made this edit even better is the inclusion of Ahsoka Tano, who has become a fan-favorite character after her appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka's voice could be heard among the other Jedi in the final cut, but of course, none of these Force ghosts actually appeared to Rey. Rise of Skywalker co-writer Chris Terrio noted that they only included the Force Ghosts of Leia and Luke at the end of the film because the Skywalker siblings were the only two to have cultivated a relationship with Rey. However, with the film acting as a finale for decades worth of Star Wars films, including Force ghosts familiar to fans would've been a nice touch.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had a lot to accomplish in one film. It would've been impossible to please all Star Wars fans after eight movies and years of anticipation for the final chapter. Although the actual scene of Rey hearing the Jedi's voices was a great tribute, a moment with the Force Ghosts standing by Rey would've also been a great way to honor the previous movies. And as this fan-edit proves, it definitely would have been doable with modern editing technology.
