Spider-Man & Star Wars VFX Hero Video Gets Disney Boss Response

Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger has responded to a fan's viral VFX video featuring Spider-Man, Ben 10, and a Star Wars Jedi. Both Spider-Man and Star Wars have been a major factor in Disney's success in recent years. The Skywalker saga may have come to an end with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but Disney is still committed to the franchise going forward. Several films are in development, and The Mandalorian, Star Wars' first live-action series, was an instant hit on Disney+. As season 2 doesn't launch until this fall, Disney is currently focused on additional TV shows featuring Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Cassian Andor and Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Disney doesn't own the character of Spider-Man, but has entered into a lucrative deal with Sony to use the hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland's take on the character has been a critical and commercial success, with many praising his easy chemistry with the Avengers. However, last year, it looked like Spider-Man's time in the MCU may be over when Sony and Disney couldn't make a new agreement. Luckily, things worked out, with Iger even thanking Sony directly for ending the Spider-Man feud.

This week, college student Julian Bass showed his love for both Star Wars and Spider-Man, as well as Ben 10, with an impressive VFX video that went viral. In it, Bass plays all three heroes with cool transitions that caught the attention of several big names in Hollywood, including James Gunn, Mark Hamill, and Josh Gad. However, one of the biggest replies came from Iger, who responded with a timely Hamilton reference after Bass mentioned he was angling for a call from Disney. Check out the video and Iger's response below:

Bass' video has been viewed over 20 million times at this point, proving the attention from Iger was well-earned. TikTok, where the clip originated, has become an especially popular platform during the coronavirus quarantine, with many users making creative pop culture content to pass the time. For example, one musician learned how to play the Harry Potter theme using a washing machine, while another made a face mask that turns into the Marauder's Map. Both shared their adventures on TikTok, where they were met with enthusiasm by fellow Harry Potter fans.

It's hard to know at this point if anything will come out of Iger's response to Bass' video. However, the clip clearly shows Bass' talent, as well as his appreciation for Disney properties. If the company doesn't wind up collaborating with Bass in some capacity, it seems likely another will move in quickly. All told, Bass' creativity clearly paid off.
