The Hogwarts Houses of Studio Ghibli Heroines | ScreenRant

Studio Ghibli heroines are some of the most loved and memorable anime characters. Each Ghibli movie makes their heroines extremely dynamic and totally lovable. They are typically strong-willed and the perfect role models for all who watch.

But while they are all dynamic and pivotal to their own storylines, each of the heroines are vastly different from each other. They approach obstacles in different manners and react to situations differently. Because of this, it is easy to tell which Harry Potter Hogwarts house the girls would be in. Gryffindor for those filled with bravery, nerve, and chivalry. Hufflepuff for those loyal, kind, and dedicated souls. Ravenclaw for wit and creativity beyond measure. And finally, Slytherin for the cunning, ambitious, and determined.

10 Sophie - Gryffindor

Sophie may have started out Howl's Moving Castle as a bit shyer and quieter than a lot of the Ghibli heroines on this list. She wasn't too proud or had much confidence in herself. But like Neville Longbottom, Sophie had a drastic transformation.

Sophie became so brave and adventurous. She took her wariness of people and ended up accepting all around her. Sophie developed into the Gryffindor she always was in her heart.

9 San - Slytherin

San is the perfect Slytherin. She is utterly determined throughout Princess Mononoke to save her forest and keep it safe from the greedy human hands. The typical traits of a Slytherin are to be cunning, determined, and incredibly ambitious.

All of this fits San. She knew how to fight well and was cunning enough to outmaneuver her enemies. San was incredibly ambitious as well, and would do anything to save her home.

8 Chihiro - Hufflepuff

Throughout Spirited Away, Chihiro was incredibly loyal to all of the friends she made in the bathhouse, and to her parents, who had turned into pigs. Instead of forgetting about them, she made it her consistent goal to save them and escape the spirit world together.

Even when Lin and some of the other bathhouse members warn Chihiro of Haku and how he seems to just be Yubaba's "henchman," she remained close to him, wanting to help him whenever she could. Chihiro is the perfect example of a true Hufflepuff.

7 Arrietty - Ravenclaw

Arrietty is the perfect Studio Ghibli example of a Ravenclaw. She is incredibly creative throughout the film and is able to use all the items she scavenges to her and her family's advantage. As a borrower, she heeds her parents' warnings of avoiding the humans she lives with and just takes what will go unnoticed.

Arrietty is incredibly strong-willed, which would make most think that she could fit as a Gryffindor, however, her wit outdoes her bravery on multiple occasions. She is also incredibly accepting of her situations and sheds a lot of wisdom to Sho, who desperately needed it.

6 Ponyo - Hufflepuff

Ponyo becomes pretty much immediately attached to the young boy who saves her from a glass jar, Sosuke. After she meets him, he is actually the one to name her Ponyo, a name which she loves and decides to take it on instead of her birth name.

Ponyo also becomes human after meeting him in order to be with him. Like the Hufflepuff she is, Ponyo becomes incredibly loyal and devoted to Sosuke throughout the entirety of the film.

5 Shizuku - Gryffindor

While Shizuku's goal to become a writer may seem like a Ravenclaw's fantasy, her determination and method of finding her dream reads as a total Gryffindor. At the beginning of the film, Shizuku had no idea what she wanted to do after school and felt like she still had a lot of time to decide.

But once she meets Seiji, who knows exactly what his dream is, she has a change of heart. She decides she wants to become a writer and puts all of her efforts into finishing her first story. She bravely shares her story, even though it isn't perfect, and is incredibly headstrong about the entire process. Her personality totally fits that of a Gryffindor.

4 Kaguya - Ravenclaw

Kaguya is another great example of a Ravenclaw. She is incredibly smart and witty throughout the film and is always astonished when she learns new things. Kaguya uses her wit and creativity to her advantage throughout the film.

One of the key moments this is represented is when suitors come to ask for her hand in marriage. Not really wanting to marry any of them, Kaguya sends them on an impossible scavenger hunt based on something one of the men said regarding her beauty. Kaguya is able to use her wit at a moments notice here to save herself from the suitors.

3 Kiki - Slytherin

Kiki makes for an excellent Slytherin and would totally fit in at Hogwarts with her witch powers. Throughout her film, Kiki is incredibly determined to find her place in the world and ambitious enough to become an excellent witch.

Kiki is often cunning and shows many of the traits that comes with the Slytherin title. She travels far until she is able to find her new town to reside in.

2 Sheeta - Hufflepuff

Sheeta is one of those characters who would definitely give the Sorting Hat a hard time deciding between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. She's incredibly intelligent, and loyal to the core.

This fact puts her more in line with that of a Hufflepuff. She is incredibly loyal to a number of people throughout the film, especially to Pazu. She also shows immense kindness throughout the film, even to those who had been chasing her throughout the majority of the film.

1 Nausicaä - Gryffindor

Nausicaä is incredibly brave and confident throughout her film. She is the princess of the Valley of the Wind but doesn't let her royalty stop her from being one of the valley's main fighters and explorers.

She is constantly getting herself into dangerous situations, but does so in order to help her people. She is incredibly chivalrous and realizes that she must protect the jungle along with her valley.
